I'm STILL having problems with SL. I'm not a happy. BUT - it might NOT actually be a problem with SL.

I have looked at every aspect of the computer, and everything, and after the database fix, I did see an improvement in performance, but then approx 2 weeks ago, it got too bad. I can't stand being logged in for long (or it crashes me out) - I'm totally gutted. The screen freezes and jerks and shudders, and the Lag meter shows both client and network as being red all the time. It is now essentially un-useable, and I have largely been confined to the realms of RL.

My brother did a bit of looking about, and came across many threads on problems with the UK network provider Orange. All reporting the same problem as I am experiencing. But they were dated this time last year.

Last year I had trouble, and it suddenly went away, but it's been over a month now, and I'm really unhappy. Orange are not at all helpful....but the operators do ask me if I am "ever coming to......(insert town name)......and if so, he would be happy to show me around, if I do the same when he comes to see me in my United kingdom's London city" - I mean.... WTH !!!!!

Anyway - is anyone else with Orange and having problems ? Did you resolve them ? If so, how ?

I also tried to load another virtual world, based around horses. And also on some video based websites, all result in the same problem...don't know why it should hit those. The Graphics card is the latest available.

So now I am just trying to seek out other Orange sufferers, and if anything worked for you to resolve the issues.

I use Virgin but I had a problem for a while last year. Virgin suddenly started to throttle my download if I went over certain limits during certain times of day. It was almost as regular as clockwork. I wasn't aware of any such limits for some time - until they wrote to me (or to everyone) about it. Perhaps Orange is operating some throttling system. I dealt with mine by increasing my bandwidth from 4M to 20M, which gave me higher limits during those periods.

Incidently, Google just released "Measurement Lab" two days ago that among other things, tells you if your ISP is throttling or shaping your traffic:
