Go to File --> Upload Image (L$10) and follow the instructions, or hit Cntrl U.

The image may look distorted in the preview window just before the upload, but it stretches back out to whatever dimension you want when you put it on a prim.

The upload texture appears in your tecture folder, not in the Library I think.

File/Upload Texture... it appears in your Textures folder, rather than the Library. And it's a 10 Linden cost

File >> upload image

it will cost you $10L per upload.

You can also upload multiples.

When the previewer comes up - make sure your texture looks correct and that you've got the right texture.

**hah.. I was the slow one today** :p

You should have saved it as jpg, png or tga.

Select the "File" menu inworld, then click "Upload Image".
This opens a select window, select your file (double click or one click and open).
You will have to press ok to upload, cause that will take you 10 L$.
You can also priview the image for various applications inworld, before you click ok.

If you select to upload, you will be charged 10 L$ and the upload starts.
You will find the texture in the textures folder of your inventory.

.bmp's work too, or at least they used to.

One other tip: If you'll be uploading a lot of trial textures to see how they look before choosing one, you can save the L$10 upload fee by doing it on the preview grid, using the command line argument "--grid aditi" when launching the secondlife executable. Your L$ balance on the preview grid is not tied to the real grid balance, so you can spend like a drunken sailor and it has no effect on your real account. That can be a significant savings for upload-intensive stuff like designing clothing or skins, or tweaking animations.

this is only useful if you can access the preview grid (usually need to be about 30 days old, in order to be in the snapshot used for that grid)

in other words, younger accounts may not be on that grid yet

(no harm trying, all it will do is say you can not use it yet.)

doesn't that also work if, while on the login screen, you do a ctrl-shift-g or something along those lines... then you get to choose which grid to which to login...

Also, you might want to have a look through this sticky from the texturing forum ...

/109/e6/150360/1.html

especially the section on allowable sizes. Basically, SL will resize your texture to the nearest power-of-two pixel dimensions, so if you don't want it to be squashed and distorted you can follow these guideline sizes before you upload.

twinkboy, I am really pleased to hear you are doing something constructive in SL - power to your mouseclick! :)
