Change last name via group?

My friends last name is <3 and she said she joined a group but I cant find it and it looks to be some type of coding to do it anyone know it?

I think you mean group title not lastname :)

There are two lines of text that can float over your head. The lower one is your name, and you can't change that or choose to make that invisible to others. The upper line shows if you are wearing a group tag, and is your assigned group role name in that group. If you are not wearing any group tag, that line doesn't show.

But, as has come up in a couple of threads before, a loophole in the protocol allows you to create group tags which mess up the name tag.
It's done with a libsl-based proxy or similar, manipulating the commands sent to the SL servers.
It is, strangely, somewhat inconsistent between sims, and in any case, it'll probably be fixed at some point, though it's hardly a critical exploit.

Aha!! This "loophole" you speak of may explain why I saw an avatar yesterday with a 1 word name. Hmmm interesting...
