While flipping through the debug setting, I saw this:
RenderAttachedLights
Render lighted prims that are attached to avatars
(default is TRUE)

Has this been here for awhile or is it something new?

if that is what I think it is, WOW

and as for how long it has been there, no clue

can some folks with older versions of the client take a peek and see if they have it?

what version of the client are you using?

Torley mentioned at yesterday's office hours that it's new with the new RC 2. And yes, it means what you think: facelights be history on my viewer.

Second Life 1.21.2 (96080) Sep 9 2008 09:42:01 (Second Life Release Candidate)

SWEET!!!!

I mean this is great news. Olderversions that need facelights can keep them. Newer versions where face lights wash out the colors in a giant radius can turn them off. It's a nice function to have.

Oh ... and for all those sounds they added, I see in the debug settings there is a big list of "UISnd****" settings, each one is the UUID value for a sound file. I guess you culd uses a blank sound file in their place.

Or maybe a bunch of HAL clips ...

Was just playing with this. I deleted both the UUID for UISndClick and UISndClickRelease, and restarted the viewer, and that got rid of the ones that were driving me crazy.

What I really wish is that I could just click on an avatar and turn off their attached lights, bling, etc.. I honestly do not have a problem with everyone's face lights or with some of the more subtle bling.

Oh well, guess I won't worry about it until I decide to finally move up from the older Nicholaz viewer.
