Hi there,
I caught the land bug recently and I bought a parcel of estate land that has a lovely but vacant multistory office building which is on a street with other commercial properties.
I'm considering renting out floors of the building but I'm not sure how one goes about renting out? I've done a google search on how to rent but it's only giving me information about how I could rent from someone not how to rent to someone.
Any pointers to information at this point would be a huge help.
Thanks, Merlene Writer.

All renting is is an agreement between you and someone else for the use of space.
Figure out how many tenants you want and how many prims you want to give out to each tenant, and if you have any room to allot extra prims.
You do not need to buy a rental box system, they can pay you directly, either in L or rl via paypal. The rental boxes are just conveniences.

The simplest way by far is to say: this is your floor, it's ____ $L per month payable on the first, for X prims.
You might get something like say, Moonshine Herbst's rent-o-matic or any number of the more modern timers, essentially parking meters, that keep track of days left and so forth. As time goes on, you'll find that it's a lot harder to deal with vertical spaces than horizontal ones. In an office building, everyone shares the same parcel, pretty much. No way to divide it up, or have the parcels set a limit on prims used by any given individual. There are issues with music and video as well. But it can be done. It's also handy to write up a notecard explaining your expectations, when someone decides they want to put an opium den on the third floor, &c &c. Most of all, just talk to people. If you don't *really* love doing this, you'll have all the downside of 'taking care of tenants' and none of the upside, as you might make what - 100 USD/mo? Once it becomes joblike and negative, you will dread logging in, so be sure it's what you want to do.

Thanks for feedback everyone.
Ideally, I'm just using the office building (which sits on approx 1300 sqm) as a learning environment. A partner is considering buying an island in the new year and renting, etc. there.
This is more to learn how things work, how to use space, how to build, etc. rather than a long term thing.
