Hi, i am considering upgrading to a premium account and reserving an island, it sais i can reserve it for 3 months & i can renew it. Can i keep doing this rather than buying it??
well i will buy it once i have made the money from SL. would they let me do this. do other people do this?

If i can do this, what restrictions would there be?

Hello Chaos,
I do not see a reason for you to reserve an island. Once you have enough money to buy an island, pick a spot on the map and order one. When you reserve an island (you have to pay for that!) you do not get anything, except that you can buy an island on the particular spot you reserved.

People like to reserve certain spots on the map when they already own an island, to prevent other people from buying an island there; so that other island are not in the way of future growth.

Just to elaborate further on Meni's answer - placing a 'reservation' on the land store does not reserve an island - it reserves the grid space so that you can build an island there at a future time.

The reservation process was set up to allow estate owners to reserve grid space for future expansion plans, so that they could be assured of having the room to grow their estate without having to buy the islands all at once. The only restriction really is that you cannot reserve a space unless you are already a concierge customer (either owning at least one island, or owning over 1/2 sim on the mainland).
