Of Mega Prims and Mini Maps

I finally gained control (renting) of a full region (my loud music must have chased away the neighbors).

I'd like to put up a super-sized skybox, but the mega prim obscures my mini-map turning it into one big block of blue.

As my region is part of a nine region estate it seems unfriendly and unsightly to hide all the features of the mini map with my ginormous prim.

I'd like my regional neighbors to see the topographical features on the mini map while maximizing my mega prim sky box. Or is that a contradiction that can't be resolved?

Are there any solutions to this?

i think only with map..wow they eat up your whole mini map of the sim?

Yeah, now that's the point... even if it's only the mini map that's enough of a deal breaker for me.

It feels like putting a refrigerator on my front lawn or something.

Like I'm giving the finger to my neighbors... and my landlord... who I respect.

ya you have light blue mini map since sims are 256x256..
i use them for my skybox ..i just wonder if we are the only ones that see them..because i never see anyone else but mine on my mini map.so maybe it's onyl you that can't see your sim and others can

As the blue on the mini map indicates your own items, only you will see it that way. As long as your mega prims are not going over others land then no problem.

The larger Gene Replacement megas stretch further than what we actually see of the prims due to they have been cut, so I would make sure using the newer ones.

How do you know what is new? Lately I've used the SALT HUD to get my mega prims.

And why if regions are 256x256 did my 200x200 mega prim fill the whole space? Just a display issue, or perhaps something else?

I will send you some mega prims from my alt ... if the map is showing blue further than your skybox actually reaches out, could be cut megas going over others land. You can normally see which these are in edit mode as the movement controls are not in the centre of the prim and you have to cam around to do it.

I don't know what the megaprim's for but if it's over 400m in the air it won't show up on the minimap at all. If it has to be lower than that, then definitely look into using the new megaprims, as Denise suggests. There's a thing called the SALT HUD that you can wear and request a megaprim of any dimension you can imagine. Has thousands in its database.

I have my building platform at 2000m, 1/4 sim of it over my island and above the sea, it shows on my mini map. I know anything above around 350m doesn't show on the main map.


Edit: hmmm, are you talking about the prim not showing for others or the blue? It's the blue I can see, though can't see under it to know if showing lol

I've been using the SALT HUD. I'd just found out about it a week or so ago. LOVE IT!

See I always think mini map lies,
I drove myself crazy checking and rechecking if the mega prim plat I made was indeed enroaching, before some one complained. It looked like it was on mini map. but no.

Cool find. I will have to get a sometimes mega prim builder to get it, I'm into tiny prims lately.

doesn't it have to be like half over to count on their prim usage?
i could understand down on the ground and it being over the line..but 2000 meters up and it not registering a prim on their side.i think you'd be ok..
