Really need more information about your system and how you connect to the Internet.

Under Edit/Preferences lower your graphics settings and network settings. Try lowering different values and see what improves your performance.

Under the View menu click View Statistics Bar. That will tell you what your FPS is. Also look at Packet Loss: Packet loss causes packets to be resent over the network and causes lag. You should find a network setting that keeps that value at 0.0.

First off, have you made sure your computer is up to specifications for Second Life? Is your connection robust enough? How's your graphic card?

Under preferences, turn your graphics down to low. Also, try logging into a relatively unbusy sim. Try, oh, Denby, or look on your map for a sim without many "green dots" on it.

Just log out and log in again. You don't get pay extra for log-ins. I have a computer that is not up to specs and is not going to be either because I am a cheapskate and don't want to improve the graphics card or buy more memory. Everything else works fine and it is a fairly average home desktop.

This means you get stuck and crash a lot. Just log out and get a fresh login. This works for a while. Then repeat it. There's no shame in doing this. I do it all the time and managed to finally rez my house this weekend and upload a pattern for a new shirt and visit the land hogs who set up a Xingo parlor (sort of) just down the alley-way from my land.

It sounds more like he's on a crappy wireless connection.
