I'll be nice here. and just tell you 1L? Never going to happen.. Clubs are money pits and there are so many you gotta be loaded to have any success and be ready to spend spend spend... and see no profit in return...

Best way to open your club.. Close your eyes, Take a lil nap and dream about it. you will wake up have your club and your money!!

Simply put.. Don't do it.

Quite simple: put payment info on file, and buy Lindens.
Prefab clubs are easily to get on SLX (XStreetSL nowadays), so buy or rent land, set up the purchased club building, and the easy part is done.

Better way: think of a concept (make it stick out above the other clubs, find a niche), investigate, and then do the above. Just keep in mind that most clubs run in the red: they only cost money.

Things you need:
- land
- structure (club building)
- music stream
- host/hostesses/dancers depending on your club
- budget for publicity

Probably more, but I am not a club owner :-)

For minimal traffic and a well designed club and concept I have owned.. I spent a minimum of 250US per month to run it effectively and that was only one event a night..

As a former club owner (which was actually quite successful until the fickle public did their thing), my advice to you is....DON'T.

Unless you've got money to burn, in which case, go ahead. My budget, with 12 employees, land, contests and once a week concerts was $300USD each and every month.

Still interested?

One day, you hear "this club is the best in SL!!!!!"...and the next day you hear the sound of crickets, as they've moved on to the new "best club in SL".

SO True... And you can add new and exciting idea's that will work for a day or so.. Maybe only one event.. You will NEVER see a profitable return on a club in SL.

I had a mall and club move in next door to me. The first night it opened there was about 10 people there. Since then, I have never seen more than one person there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the successful clubs these days treat the club like a network treats a TV show.

They are just a draw, and the real money is made selling ad and vendor space in the area outside. At least that's what it seems to me at places like Franks and such. They don't expect the club to be the money maker, but to create the traffic numbers to sell vendor stalls. (The way the tv show is really there to generate ad revenue)

You are 100% correct.... The Vendor rentals support the club via payments, The Club supports the Vendors via Traffic.

I don't rent from area's with traffic lower than my main store.. And of course when a club is involved I first search for bots/campers

I started in 2005 by working as the sales girl in a roadside store to cover te costs of owning my own venue. You will incur some costs but you can do some things that can help with costs

1. Get a job in a club and work your way up to manager. The experience and money will do you good.

2. Once you rent/buy your club parcel get your vendor spots up. You may need to offer free rent for a few weeks to attract vendors to your location.

3. Set up all tip jars to give you 25%.

4. Create your VIP group and make a big effort to get members.

Your going to spend alot of time creating a good following for your club. But if you love what you are doing with your free time it will all be worth it.

Lias, my friend, there are 5,000 empty clubs in SL right now. Why encourage someone else to open one?

You've been extremely diligent, and fortunate. Most people do not have the foresight and follow through that you have.

ok, i'm going to be an unrestrained scathing bitch here but i'd say figure out *exactly* what people want from a club.

What I don't want and I accept that this is me so i'm possibly not your target audience but in no particular order:-

1. I don't want to tolerate Hoooooo!, Hooowlz, and all the other screen filling gesture crap.

2. I don't need to be harrassed by "dont forget to tip the dancers" who are more than likely "dancing" default animations in a pole.

3. I don't want to enter popularity competitions, I accept i'm a really bad loser but they're just not for me.

4. I don't want to play the negative equity sploder things that I have such a bad relationship with.

5. I don't want to listen to streamed music from an station, I can do that already.

6. I'm not that excited about spinning primmy lights that catch my camera when viewing around and just detract.

What do *I* want? Good consistent music, good friends and yes I do think conversation can happen in an SL club. It can't in RL because we use our aural sense but in SL that's not the case and most of all, no lag.

I can achieve the latter in 2 prims in a 512m2 skybox. Well I could do it with one, the other prim is to stop people falling off lol.

What i'm saying is, you can do the *same* as every other club and you'll be competing with *every* other club. Find something unique instead. Find a niche as others have already said.

I owned a club for a while. As others have pointed out, all clubs are money pits. I would not own another club.

Frankly, there are far too many competing for the same 50 avatars (or so it seems).

Hiring staff is easy. Keeping staff is difficult. If they don't see a "what's in it for them" they will simply not show up for work.

My only advice if you really want to build and operate a club is get a job at any club, learn the ropes, and figure out what you want to do from there. Don't start off as a newbie expecting to get a club for nothing.

buy lots and lots of lindens ..then go cut a deal with an exiting club owner and buy their club..then hire said existing club owner now manager of your new club to run it..as time goes on ask the old owner questions until you feel you are well enough on your way..

if this doesn't sound serious it's because i just think you are kidding too lol

Honestly, I think being locked in a cage dangling from the bottom of an x-wing piloted by someone I've never met sounds WAY more fun that going to a typical club. :p
