Man, this better be good and worth the wait!
Should I laugh now or hold it til we get in and experience all the usual problems?

I'm expecting a couple unusual ones to resurface to make it worth it ;)

I'm sure they're keeping the grid down just to piss everyone off.

Its a record in my book! First were told 11, then 12, then 2, then 2:30.
Keep in mind, this was all to take place tomorrow, not today!
So what is it they truly want us to believe????
And, how much money are all of you heavily invested ones loosing in the past 6 1/2 hours? I absolutely cannot believe this company! They truly cease to amaze me!
RL??? When youre told a certain time then you see another time, then another, then another how are you supposed to get anything done in rl. If they would have just shut SL down for like a day to fix all the problems in one fell swoop, we wouldnt be experiencing this! This is insanity at its best and makes absolutley no damn sense!!

http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/12/28/grid-is-down/
Down-time: 11h 30

Although technically it wasn't full down-time since the entire grid was up and running but with log-ins closed and only a few hundred of us left in-world the entire time which was actually quite fun :).

Other extended downtime I remember:
* when we had the grey goo attacks they'd close the grid for a few hours in a row (and for those of us left logged on, scripts were turned off grid-wide which made things quite interesting :p)
* an exploit resulted in extended downtime and then a few days later more downtime because the "fix" had introduced a new exploit

I'm sure it's the same ones who complain that LL never fixes anything that are complaining about the grid being down.

There will be problems today because the system has gone through some changes and there will be a mass wave trying to get in. Don't worry, though, it will be all LL's fault again.

look at it from the smartass side, "can install a server in an hour ffs"
look at it from a forum dweller`s side, "omg so much time and not enough bs to post!"
look at it from linden lab`s side, "wankers wanted to protest, protest this hah!"
look at it from a lurker`s view, "people must be bored, i can`t keep up reading!"
look at it from the partner`s side, "why do i get so much attention? what`s up???"
look at it from the griefer`s side, "I CAN SCREW PPL MORE WITH NO DB ERRORS!!!!"
look at it from the traffic *expert* side, "OH NO MY TRAFFIC *WHHHHIIIINNNNEEEE NEED MORE BOTS!!!1!!11!*"

What may be a record is the number of threads devoted to the same subject. Strife...!

Development, test, release stratagy

I am begining to wonder if they have one or if they are still in the bad old days of if it compiles ship it?
A decent test on a test network probably would have shown up the problems and they could have been corrected and retested before applying to the live network. This would have saved the need of a rollback and all the time lost to those who want to use SL.

As a qualified software tester my head is in my hands at this seemingly amatur approach.

Wow. You should apply at LL as the top software engineer.
