Now I am new to SL. But I have this odd thing going on with my avatar. For some reason I see this little white ball over my head. When I teleport to different areas within the game it goes away for a minute or so and then comes back. Now without making a bunch of jokes, what the hell is it...  Thanks, Vidarr |

And when you talk with voice chat, green waves will appear around the white dot indicating the volume that other people hear you at. It's useful for determining your own volume since you won't be able to hear it yourself. It's also called a "voice dot".

To turn it off, and use only typing (aka "text" chat), go to your Edit Menu, choose Preferences, then go to the Voice tab and uncheck the option there... or keep it on. Your call.  And welcome to Second Life! |
