I would like to rez 3000 prims worth of our scripted furniture on an empty Openspace sim to see if there is a bad performance hit. Right now we are running about 505 scripts totally 2.7ms, on a standard sim. I would like to expand our sims as we out grow our 15,000 prims, and a slow expansion would be much easier and cheaper than having to buy a full sim and then slowly build up another 10,000-12,000 prims worth of furniture, and an Openspace would be great, in theory. But we know how that goes. If you can help please let me know. It will take all of 10 mins to rez the furniture, bring in some alts, and see if the scripting slows to a crawl like in some Openspaces. Thank you in advance!

Yeah I can help. It's not entirely empty but quite close to empty. Class 5 openspace. Crystalshard already has estate rights there. Don't open the island public, just change the group that is allowed access. Sending you a PM with the name of the island. Des

Thanks Desmond! But i got the job done. Matthew Down was quick to IM me.
I rezzed 3,535 prims for around 400 or so scripts. The sim slowed a little bit, I also brought on 5 or 6 full avatar alts to simulate some activity in the sim.
The slowdown was acceptable for scripted menu calling furniture.
This is really cool, because it says to me that a Openspace CAN handle some scripted business and avatars without choking like a cat on a hairball.
It is also a big relief because it means we can expand the store via Openspace sims until we get 4 and then merge them to a full sim. A much better and easier upfront cost solution instead of having to buy a full sim and then working like a mad-woman to build up the furniture in a short enough time to make the monthly tier worth it.
Thanks again Matthew and Desmond for both of your quick replies.

God i love SL....and yes i like kool-aid too! Wouldn't it matter how busy the other Openspace sims that share your CPU are? I thought that was where the performance hit could occur.

That has an effect as well but I cannot account for that variable. Most I can do is load a sim down with the scripts that go in what we sell, add some avatars and then look at the performance. It could be that what I was running is too much an Openspace, but with a script time of 0.7ms, I am thinking it will be o.k.
