Group IM

I recently joined a group and I see that I now receive group IMs and notices, and that's fine.

But is there a way to temporarily hide or disable the Group IM's? I tried activating the "None" group, but that just turns off the title over the avatar name.

The chat volume isn't usually very high, but sometimes it is distracting.

Thanks.

If it's possible, Id sure like to know how to turn it off. I'd turn them ALL off.

Except the Cartel, of course, since the banter is why I joined up. :p

The owner Can disable Group chat with Viewer 1.21 RC0

New Settings server side and have to be using viewer 1.21

So far no way to shut it down on your end yet. Not sure why they didn't do that a long time ago..

You Can Close the group chat with the small X in the window.. second one down.. Should not come back up unless you re-log That's about the only temp action you got. But i hear some people still have a problem with it popping back up. Maybe because they are still using old viewers

Peace

Yes, when you pull up "Info" for your group, there are two boxes at the bottom of the window, on the right. One says something like "list group in my list of groups" and the other has to do with getting group notices and, I think, IMs...

Hmmm. Now that I think about it, maybe it only says group notices. Not inworld right now, or I'd check...

Someone in an earlier thread suggested you detach the local chat window or IM window and move it off the side of the screen leaving only a margin showing so you can pull it back when you're ready to be bothered again. It worked for me. Very ingenious idea I thought. You can log the IM's so you can catch up later if you like.

Thanks everyone! Yes, clicking on the lower X closes the chat for that session.

It's interesting that there isn't a way to filter the IM's by group, or groups of groups or personal IM's.

Anyway, thanks for the info.
