In previous versions (I don't know when it stopped) when you were in busy mode you were not bothered with local chat (unless you opened your history window). Has this changed, and if so, when? Now when I am in busy mode, I still see chatter's text.

Hmm I haven't noticed.

I am kinda glad if it is this way on purpose though. I always used busy mode for blocking IMs, group spam, etc. Often I wished I could do that but still hear those I am working with or around.

I usually work in an area where I have no local chat while in busy so I'm not sure if its a new issue or what. One thing I do to not show local chat popping up is open the communication window, detach the local chat then move it all the way over out of the viewer window so just the side border is showing....and I can grab it later to close it or move it back. That way any local chat or excessive chat spam doesn't scroll up on my screen. I'm sure there is an easier way....just haven't figured it out yet.

Our product (and some of our services) require no interruptions, so we request the customer go into busy (that statement is built into our info notecards). Now I can't seem to busy out the local chat.

doesn't IM provide 'no interruptions' when talking to a 'customer'? .. eh.. but maybe i am just confused about your services >_<

though responding to the original post... i too have had flukes where going into Busy mode doesn't seem to filter out local chat... sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

I haven't seen this happen in-world yet, but if the behavior has changed, I for one will be thrilled. A lot of people have requested exactly this change -- so we can go to classes or other public events or even have a quiet discussion at home and pay attention to what's actually happening in the room without being constantly interrupted by all the group chats and other IMs. With the old behavior, it was impossible to go to a class and turn off the interruptions without also turning off the teacher.

I just tested this out in Version 1.20.15, and busy mode still blocked local chat by others, if I didn't open the chat history window. If I typed something in the local chat, that appeared on my screen, but not the person typing next to me. (By chat history I mean local chat window. If that is closed, nothing but my own chat scrolls up my screen.)

I'm running Vista on a PC, if that helps at all.
