Evil titlers...?

At one of my favourite clubs, these 'evil titlers' are all the rage. From what I gather, someone can snap a floating title above your head with a message over which you have no control.

What I want to know is whether these can be snapped on any unsuspecting victim, or do you have to grant permission first? I really don't want to end up spending the rest of my SL existence with a silly phrase hovering over my head!

Evil Titlers might be good fun among consenting individuals, but not for people who don't want to participate.

Sounds like a follower to me. Should be able to TP out to get rid of it, but otherwise I don't think there's anything that can be done to make it go away. I suppose if it's Evil Enough, it could be AR'd to bring some sorrow to the person who sent it.

The ones I've seen people wearing seemed like a regular attachment (a follower wouldn't have survived a tp anyway).

One made a mention of it being "locked on" so it probably works in combination with the RestrainedLife viewer as well (if a script issues llOwnerSay("@detach=n"; the containing attachment can't be detached while using that viewer) so in that case there would be some "having to live with it". With the regular viewer they can always detach anything at will so it's just RP there.

if they can drop objects they can put them over anyone..

i have one that i used to use in clubs that had cute signs like sexy or leet or other cute names ..mine was from abreTech if thats how it as spelled hehehe
i never made anything that had bad names but you could make your own signs if you wanted..
it was a fun toy for clubs and people really had fun the times i used it but i could see someone making nasty tags if in the wrong hands..

It is an attachment made by my friend Daisy Rimbaud, which is indeed RLV enabled (meaning it can't be detached while using the RestrainedLife viewer), and it periodically says on the chat that anybody can set its title. Anybody but the wearer, that is !

So yes, it's Evil. But at the same time, everything Daisy makes is. lol.

Not necessarily. It would not be hard to make a follower item that would display any text anyone wanted to add to it. And that would invite any avatars in the are to suggest a title.

It wouldn't be hard, but such an object couldn't attach, and thus RestrainedLife couldn't stop it detaching. It sounds like this is a voluntary thing.

it's just a normal titler with a twist in that the wearer cannot change the title, only ppl within range when it unlocks itself to allow title to be hanged (every 30 mins or so) and if you don't like the titkle then you can always take the titler off after all it is an attachment thats in your inv. Most of the ones at the club you go to have all been fun..even the ones I've had to wear lol
