Hi everyone!

It's my second day here in SL and I decided to make a purchase of clothing just to see how the experience went. Unfortunately, I am clueless as to why my purchased items are not showing up in my inventory as 'clothing'. The item set that I purchased appears in my inventory under 'Objects' in a tiny weenie square box. When I try to wear it, it looks like I am wearing a white business card. No matter what I do, I cannot seem to use this object nor turn it into clothing!

Help! I don't wanna run around all nekked ;-)

Thanks for the read,

Rez the box, right click it, go to open, click on copy contents to inventory and voila...hopefully!

Go to a sandbox or The Shelter or an NCI location -- a few other newbie areas will allow it also.

then it's obvious that if the land owner doesn't allow you to rez object, you can't rex the box there. Find a land that allow you to rez objects first:rolleyes:

Yes you need to be on 'build enabled' land which allows items to be rezzed. Some stores will allow a few minutes - just long enough to open boxes and sort out your purchase. Others don't and in that case, if you don't own or rent your own place, just find nearby land showing the build icon on the menu bar or perhaps tp to a quiet sandbox. You can delete the rezzed packaging after you've transferred the contents to your inv. If you forget to do that it will be returned to your lost and found folder when the build time allowed is up but it's better practice not to litter the place with empty boxes.

Welcome to SL and the forum. :)

:0 yes, look in the menubar for a spot of land that doesn't display the little cube with a red 'do not' slash/circle over it - you can 'rez' there. :)

then when you do, drag the object out to the ground or floor, it should 'rez' - appear in-world as a box or package. then right-click it and 'open'
it, and a display window will appear - push the 'copy to inventory' button, and the unpacked folder of wearable clothing will appear in your inventory.

be sure to clean up after yourself!! ;0 right-click your now-empty rezzed package and 'take' or 'more/delete' :)

Yes, that you for all your help in getting me used to this new world. SL is completely new to me, I developed and ran an online virtual world for over six years. Granted, the realm and concept were quite different but I am looking forward to exploring this new world. Many thanks to all your help! Esp you Sassy....thanks for the time and the help.

Also, if you've misplaced it in your inventory and cant remember what it's called. Two suggestions...

Pop back to the shop you bought it from, left click on the item you bought (don't press "buy", though) and take note of it's name. Search for that name in your inventory.

or, check your transaction history. It'll show the name of the item, then search inventory using that name.

If all else fails, IM the shop owner/creator.
