Group Land Settings

I ma having trouble configuring my land to allow members of my group the ability to place objects and run scripts.

I am the owner of land with the group set the my group. It hasnt been deeded (ive no idea what that really is or its implications). All I am fter is the abiity to allow group members to do the above mentioned but no amount of settings tweaking is having it. The only way I can seem to allow people to do anything is by allowing global access which obviously I dont want to leave on. Under land options I have all ticks in the group boxes.

any suggestions at this point are greatly appreciated.

Do the group members have their tags on when they are trying to place objects/run scripts?

Have you set permissions for members to build in the group options themselves.

Also if you did this in the past couple of days, start all over, I did this once when SL was all tits up and after I reset everything when SL settled down everything seemed to work fine.

Is this on mainland or island?
On mainland, the About Land allow-group checkboxes have always worked for me on group land.

If this is on an island, the problem might lie in the management functions and not in the About Land settings. I was on a new island yesterday in which the access and build setting were definitely not controlled by the About Land settings.

Re Island, just checking this now. Overrides that are possible:

Block Terraform
Block Fly
Allow Damage
Restrict Pushing
Disable Scripts
Disable Collisions
Disable Physics

And thats it.

So it is nothing to do with Island management

Then maybe it's general borkiness?

I was on an island last night in which
1. I could get in without wearing a group tag. A friend had to join the group.
2. I could build without wearing the group tag. Members of the group were having difficulty building despite the island owner intending that they could do so.

None of the access and build controls apparently in force were apparent in the About Land windows.

But then, SL was going crazy at the time.

A big problem I get requests for help with on our island, is setting permissions to allow group members set parcel to 'Home'. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. For the life of me I haven't yet worked out how I eventually get it to work. I usually say its SL's borkiness.

Most of the group permissions don't work unless the land is actually deeded to the group. Any function that you might think of as relating to something you might want to restrict only for the 'owner' or 'a resident of the group' most likely will fail if the land is only "set" to the group.

On island, I have all group permissions working (well those needed) and the parcel isn't deeded to the group, however, it does usually take me more than once to set permissions up to work

That may well be the case then

Just to clarify some more

My land is on the mainland

The land is "set" to my group

I am wanting to allow all group memebers to place objects - this is the most importaint thing I am needing. In grouip settings i can see all the various selections that relate to that but none of them seem to be doing anything - from what I can gather allowing scripts ispurely an about/land setting.

One last thing I can think of that may help, it's boring as hell to do though. For every permission you set always click 'apply' and the 'ok'.

So if your setting "Invite People to this Group" select it then click apply and ok, then on to the next permission, then again click apply and ok, etc. etc.

Edit: I'm sure you know, but this is in Group Info => Members & Roles => Roles and at the bottom Allowed Abilities

Tried it out and still no different - it just seems that mailand group settings are either borked or not designed to work that way. My workaround for now has had to be to allow global access but set non group items to return after 1 minute.

Being rather new at this - if anyone knows of a drastic reason why I shouldnt take this approach please feelf ree to let me know heh!

Thanks for the help

Just allow access and creation for all objects for now. You can see whose objects are on your land by checking every day or two and return the ones belonging to non-members. I allow object creation for all on several parcels on my sim and rarely have to return objects that don't belong there.

Yeah ive set the access as that now. My only final worry is scripts. Ive ticked the boxes for no pushing and no damage so will that keep any potential griefers in check? (The place I run is not the kind of place to attract them I dont think but still) - other than I think I am all set now.
