Hmm I followed the advice of fellow residents and got a copy of Bright AO. Though the AO plays the animations fine, it simply stops working around once a minute, reverting back to the default SL stand for around 5-10 seconds, then works again. I tried asking Shan Bright (creator) and got a rather rude reply: [[20:45] Suki Hirano: I did read the notecard, but not every single word, since I have many AOs so I skipped to the part about configuring the notecard. I put that review because I did not get a response from you apparently on SL, but since you did and SL ate my message then I apologize for it, but seeminly lots of people were confused by the permissions not just me. My main question was the AO bug though. [20:47] Shan Bright: No darling, not "lots" of people, a *handful*. You also didn't allow much time for me to reply - your review was up on XStreet before I had a chance to log in again, and less than 24 hours after you sent your initial question: we're not all on every day, you know. Now, if you don't like the AO, as you've made clear you don't, my advice is to delete it and forget about it. It cost you nothing, so why bother? But here, it's 4:45am, and I really need to get to bed Take care ] Basically I put a review on xstreet saying that the AO had a major bug which makes it unusable, but overall excellent quality otherwise for a free AO, not too rude right? I even apologized for it; apparently she took it as an insult and simply ignores my question, after giving me like a 6-paragraph lecture on the basics of AOs like I was some newcomer. Ok so put that aside, does anyone here use the Bright AO? Did you experience this problem or know how to fix it? There's no syntax error in the notecard otherwise it would give an error in-world right?

I would suggest following her advice, honestly. If you aren't sure where in the code the problem is and can't fix it (most likely she can't either), then just pull the animations you like, disregard the ones you don't and throw them all into a new AO. Might save a lot of headaches, ya know?

I use it and I've never had any problems with it. Even the on/off feature works fine.

No problems whatsoever for me with the AO.
Only issue is that sometimes if I want to use a gesture I have to switch the AO off as its animations are higher priority and so won't allow the gesture to run.

The AO normally works fine, and I can't replicate the problem no matter how hard I try. But I think it must be to do with the way you've set up the notecard line about what stand anim to use. It sounds to me as if, for some reason, it thinks you want it to play the default stand built-in stand animation as part of the sequence.
Are you sure that the relevant line is in the format "standing fidget=Anim1/Anim2/Anim3" (no quotes) and that the animations are all in the AO's inventory, with the exact names (check spelling, capitalization, spacing) you've given them on the card? And that the first three lines of the card are something like
minimum fidget=20 maximum fidget=30 tick=0.3
As to your complaint about the permissions, the AO itself is copy transfer. The animations Shan put in it aren't, but if you want to make an AO you can distribute to your friends, just -- once you're got the configuration sorted out -- replace her anims with your own, copy transfer, ones.

I have not used this particular AO, however - the description of the issue - where by the animations pause for 10-15 seconds and seem to revert back to default - happens quite frequently with me on my chime while dancing - I get such a pause inbetween dance loops. I have found the problem to be - either...I have my walk/stand AO - on or... I am somewhere where the lag is so great that it can't transition to the next pose/animation quickly enough - thus causing the pause.
Dunno - just a thougth

It does sound like user error, plus too much haste to blame the creator. Especially since others are using the device with no problems.
Configuring AOs is a tricky, persnickety business. I've been putting off tweaking mine for MONTHS.
But if the OP can't get it working properly, there are other free AOs out there. Or ones that cost money (and for which you can therefore expect a greater level of customer support).

What was wrong with the no-mod script, I wonder, and how did you fix it?
