 This isn't easy for me.....but here goes (and yeah I will have a question)....I'm letting go of my island Arpes. :( It's not something I want to do AT ALL.....but it's the right thing to do right now because it's simply not justifiable any longer until things change for me financially.
Doing the gallery of my mom's work was one of the best things I ever could have done......for myself...and also for my brother & sister because of how it inspired them....and made them understand just how powerful and effective the virtual world can be. My sister is working on a web site and my brother is still toying with the idea of playing his music via SL..... but the bottom line is my mom's paintings and her story have made an impact and that was the point. Lots of people have complimented me on Arpes and admired my mom's work. Lots of folks have made donations to the MS Society. Thank you. .... I am so so delighted and touched that anyone at all, was able to enjoy the island and her work.

I do absolutely plan on continuing when I have enough to grab the land again. And I will probably rent a funky warehouse space in the NYC sim Staten Island and continue a small gallery, with the MS donation box. I'm not giving up my idea and my vision. I'm not giving up my skin creating either but I may not have the time to open a new shop until after my vacation.

So......for anyone who is interested..... my island is called 'Arpes' and it's easily found on the map......I hope you guys will stop by and take a little bit of pleasure from it while it's still all set up (disreguard the odd structure floating behind the lighthouse lol....a friend helped me build a shop that I'll use for Sabijha eventually)

Anywho.....my very important question is this.......how reliable is the method of taking a cluster of items at once into inventory.....to later rez in the same configuration? I've heard so many stories of people losing inventory when taking things this way.....(not that I would lose the art because of course I have all the originals) Eventually I'll re-do my island idea.....and I was hoping to simplify the process by keeping things in saved clusters instead of grabbing up my stuff one bit at a time. Your thoughts?

I have, recently, successfully grabbed and re-rezzed well over 2500 prims as a single coalesced object in inventory. You should be able to do up to 4000 prims.

So sorry to hear you're having to let the sim go. I know times are tough for a lot of people in RL. Hope things improve for you soon.

Thanks Ceera

I'm proably going to find a bigger losft in the NYC sim and maintain my studio and gallery there. The hardest thing for me, believe it or not, is going to be telling my family that I had to give up the gallery (for now) because once I did it.....everyone I shared it with was so overwhelmed and impressed that I could do something so profound in SL....and while they could not all get in world to see it.....I showed them on my computer and shared my snapshots with a lot of people.......I truly was not expecting such enthusiasm and support as i received. But....noone realizes how much I spend each month to make it possible and it isn't something I would ever ask for help with. It's my project and I assumed responsibility when I chose to do it.

I have been so busy IRL lately too......so I'm remaining positive that things will turn around and I can resume my course in SL. ;)

I am very sorry to hear that you have to let the island go.

To me, it sounds like what you got set up there, is mostly non profit and charity. The lab has some program where non profit and charity, can cruz for a greatly reduced ties on islands.

If this is of any interest for you at all is something I do not know, but I just wanted to make sure that this option at least is brought to your attention.

Times are indeed hard and keeping up with tier can be a struggle.

If there's anything we can do to help...

I visited your island several times, it was lovely. I'm sorry you have to let it go.

i think i would use a rez-foo like product instead of taking a chance on the coalesced method.

That's a possibility moving forward for sure.....but as it stands my island is a homestead that I rent....so really can't transform it into a non-profit. But yes, I did not do it with any intent of making a profit other than to hopefully help maintain my rent....which of course never happened. But.... what I really want to do is just get a full sim and create something a bit more fluid with-in the community. I have a dear friend in the music industry who I've re-connected with in facebook (amazing who comes out of the woodwork on there! lol) and have sort of planted the seed in his brain about the potential of SL. He's got the $$$ but not necessarily the time........tho he also sees the potential for his music and he's a very big supporter of charitable events and the like.

I'm a strong believer that everything in the Universe is right on schedule, even when it isn't 100% clear to us in the moment. It's been proven again and again in my own life to the point where I simply don't question the bad things any more......cause something else always happens.....that could never have emerged otherwise.
