How many of you in-world right now got this message? Were you on mainland or a private estate? In world chat seems to indicate this is popping up for many people on mainland.

Announcements don't show an avatar name. what you saw was either fake, or a sim specific message.

Only Estate messages show names. not grid wide announcements :3

Lindens do put out Estate messages to the parent estate ID 1 Which will be seen by *most* (almost all except a few special locations) people, but not gridwide.

Your missing the whole point.

Which is simply, there is a difference between an announcement that has no name, and an Estate message that does.

They are two completely different mechanisms

Correct. He was trying to alert the folks in the sim where his office is, to the coordinates for his office hour (some people were landing at his old landing point). He has been working on a closed area with Moles lately and forgot that he was not on the private estate -- so sent the estate message out on all that find Linden Land by mistake.

heck a linden can do just about anything, so if they want the msg to show from an avatar name, I am pretty sure their god tools will let them do that.

also it is possible that the linden typed in their name as part of the msg too

does it really matter?

(oh and another thread on the same topic has a screenshot of the msg)

i got that message on my main and my camper - each on sims from other sides of the grid from each other, and it DID name the linden... Charlene.

however, nothing restarted. ever. :rolleyes:
