Does anyone have the current total number of residents in HiPiHi, and typical monthly concurrency rates?

I was just wondering what the current population trends were in the clones of SL.

Last time I looked Openlife had 4 online. And that was before they blocked all other viewers but their own :)

Open Life seems to have quite a few green dots when I go there.

You have to use a libsl viewer to see that link. It's suppressed on the official viewer.

Actually, most of the alternative grids that I have looked at *claim* to ban bots. But I can't see how they can tell if an account is a bot or not, other than banning the account after the fact if it is determined to be in use by a bot.

I dropped HiPiHi off my radar when it was made clear that the user interface and all communications would only be in Chinese. No sense in my bothering with a world where I don't speak the language.

It's some kind of Lolita-Neko greeting, isn't it?

Looks like it is still a small community. They don't seem to like to trumpet concurrency, but in December they reported that the active user base was about 3000 to 4000.

Many thanks for those who helped to answer this question.

It is true that HiPiHi does not openly publicise their concurrency rates.

OpenLife began around mid-2007 (the earliest webpage for them from the Wayback machine, is dated 31 Oct 2007, when they had 36 regions at that time). They currently have 45,816 accounts.

HiPiHi begain beta testing on the 19th Mar 2007, with 10,000 users, and currently have 79,441 accounts.

I thought HiPiHi was something Bruce Willis said at the end of the DieHard films followed by expletives.....

I must have misheard...

And I never knew what Bruce Willis was on about either....

Its possible the reason they stay low so-to-speak may be this from the wiki-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HiPiHi
Due to the position of the Chinese government and Beijing's authoritarian policies against Taiwanese independence, Tibetan independence, anti-government criticism and Falon Gong religious groups, this game is expected by some to have major social hurdles.[1] It is uncertain as to how the game will be managed or censored, though founder Xu Hui does have a good reputation, including being labeled "Top Ten China Internet Heroes" in 1999 prior to the HiPiHi project.
