When I try to click on Teleport from a SLURL, the new Firefox 3 goes crazy and opens new Tabs in an endless loop. Has anyone seen this and do you know of a fix?

Running Vista, Firefox 3.0, just followed the default SLURL to Ahern... no problems.

I just tested. With Firefox 3, I went to slurl.com, created a new SLURL, and clicked the Teleport Now button. The only slightly quirky thing is it ended up launching the release candidate viewer instead of the main viewer, but other than that, it was flawless.
Snickers, I'm guessing something isn't loading into memory properly for you. Have you rebooted your machine since you upgraded? Either that, or maybe you've got a plugin causing causing conflicts. What Firefox extensions do you have installed?
Malia, no offense, but before you jump on the "it doesn't work" bandwagon, test it out first. I've got zero complaints about Firefox 3 so far, myself. True to Mozilla's claims, scripts do run a lot faster, and the new security features are nice.
That said, it should be possible to have both versions installed at once, if you really want to be cautious. To avoid overwriting your existing version, just install the new one to a different directory. Set a system restore point first, though, in case you screw up.

I have ff3 beta and ff3 release both installed.
When I do Help About Firefox, the information looks exactly the same on both.
When I go to about:buildconfig , that information is also exactly the same.
How do tell these two versions of FF apart, other than by where you started them from?

How do tell these two versions of FF apart, other than by where you started them from? A drastic change in the tools bar will be a clue. Takes a moment to get used to, but it's not so bad. Plus, for some idiotic reason, your bookmarks might be dated like a month past, instead of the most recent backup. Otherwise, I'm not having too many problems with it. I haven't checked SLURLs, since I didn't even THINK about them. Maybe they don't work, if you don't have the latest RC installed?

The toolbars are exactly the same, as are the bookmarks, and the sessions in the Session Manager addon are the same. I installed the release version of FF3 in a separate folder, and the target fields of the shortcuts point to different paths, like they ought to.
Why would there be a drastic difference between the toolbars in FF3 beta's latest release and the newly released final version of FF3?
Well, I suppose I can just uninstall the beta version and not worry about why there is no difference at all between them, but there ought to some way to identify the exact version of Firefox one is running, such that two different releases would have a different version number or build id.

Well I uninstalled Firefox & SL, reinstalled both and I'm still getting the runaway new tabs trying to "Teleport" off an SLURL. I basically have to shut down Firefox. It's like it's caught in a loop. I am running the Nicholaz EC viewer on top of 19.4 with greasemonkey. Don't know what's causing the problem.
