Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with this game?
Yesterday I played on a 5 L$ machine with a 50 L$ jackpot. Score to beat: 49999.
I wanted to play the machine until it would pay out (5 lindens a game is not so much, so if I would spend more than it pays out I wouldn't mind).
But.... after 35 (!) games I quit. In all those games I never got the pattern filled (for the bonus) and my score was never higher than 25000.

Does Linden Labs have any rules about this type of game? Like in RL you've got laws on gambling etc.
Now this is a game, but as there is no skill whatsoever needed (like at Zyngo you get wildcards and the outcome of the game depends on where you put them) I get the feeling this is a gambling game which is setup to make some people very rich...

Yep, there is.. Gambling is illegal in Second Life. You can report it via the abuse report system and see what happens.

It's a combination of games like this and RL laws that made LL decide to ban these kinds of games.

this is also an aproved game. so there is no need to report the game as it
probably will go on deaf ears because it is allowed in second life.

Its not really the game that is at fault. the settings are set by the owner.
the owner may have the settings set for a unfair advantage.

also with king bing you have to understand you are given the choice to take a bonus
on each round. if your not playing the game correctly you may not get optimal points.
that game is simular to zyngo. however the bonus method is different.

Where is this list of approved games? Last time I asked about it, I was told that such games sometimes got AR'd with significant penalties to the owner, and sometimes just let slide, depending which G-Team member responded.

there is no physical list.

if someone is curious if a game is allowed in second life they should contact a member of the governance team (Zara Linden is one of the more well known ones) to make sure that a game is indeed allowed in second life.

as a game creator myself i have to submit the games to be OKed and approved before selling them. My personal method is to give them a working model of the game along with a notecard explaining the game and the skills needed to play and win. as well as giving examples of how a person not using the proper skills will not win with the game over someone who uses the skills needed.

My assumption is they review the scripts and gameplay for overall randomness and how it effects the gameplay (if the outcome of the game is based on the random event or if the players interaction with the game truely effects the outcome)

i personally have made games that have not been approved and have gotten a feel for what they do look for when it comes to games as many other respected game makers have as well.

and they probably dont have a public list on purpose. that would be setting things in stone for everyone and im sure the gaming state as it is now they want to make sure that if they need to change something it would be done without someone saying "well this list says its ok now"

plus a list like this probably would be enormous due to games that are obviously legal having to be on it. (free play , ticket based games, non payout games, ect)

King Bing has been around for a little bit now and as far as i know im pretty sure it was accepted and approved. as well as my own games (DEAL, Mindspin, Scratch it, DEAL Extreme, and Nudgers) and games made by other respected game makers in Second life (Aargle's Zyngo - Quince, Lamora's Splot - quartz, and the many others out there made by these respected game makers)

oh and if you ever get AR'ed on an officially allowed game you need only contact the governance team and get the situation resolved. most of the times it is an inexperianced linden who is unsure and takes them down just to "be sure"

Can anyone explain why Zyngo and the like are allowed and Poker, Blackjack, etc aren't?

Something like Tringo is clearly a game of skill in placing the blocks with a random element in the order the blocks come, and I see why that is not gambling, especially as it is a competetive game between several players.

But Zyngo or the "nudge" slot machines that appear to be legal seem to me mainly based on random chance. I can see that there is a level of skill in using the wildcards in Zyngo, but I can't see that it is any greater than that involved in choosing whether to draw or not in card games. And in my experience the main reason for losing at Zyngo is not getting enough of the right numbers or having too much of your score stolen by the devil, which is completely random.

And I'm not asking because I want Zyngo banned or because I want card games brought back. I play Zyngo almost every day, and never played card games, so the current setup is fine by me, I just don't understand why Zyngo isn't gambling.

ding-ding-ding...we hav a WINNER!!! :D
the gambling policy is a result of RL influences on the grid. Poker, Blackjack, etc are very prominent RL casino games. To the outside world "Devil May Care" is a James Bond book.
