Question about buying land with objects

Mark Twain (and 'conveniently' more recently Al Gore) said, "It aint what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just aint so"

So I already know the answer to this question, which is the very reason I'm going to ask it anyway. I'm thinking of buying some land, water-land actually, one of those floating island things, with a few palm trees and breaking surf. There are several plots next to one another each looking pretty much the same, but on sale from a variety of agents. My question is this, wonderful as this fake tropical vision  might be, I'd just as soon do my own thing. So is there anything to stop me deleting or returning everything and building my own fake tropical vision. This is mainland property, no covenant and no apparent restrictions.

As I said I already know the answer to this but I might be wrong and blow 60K and discover I'm stuck with it (in all its fake lovliness).

Thanks in advance, Astrid

No, nothing is stopping you. As a matter of fact, those trees might be a ruse anyway - pretty, no transfer trees to lure people into thinking that they're getting the trees with the land.

Nothing stops you as long as it is mainland. If it is private island land you would only be renting and you are subject to the covenants and the owners whims (there are many, many good landlords), but check them out first.

Agreed, if you're on mainland, you're good to go. However, be aware that if the other lots stay vacant or are bought by people with a less creative mindset, you'll still live in their world of fake palm trees and sand.

Though if it's 60K, presumably it's quite a large lot, and you could always set your draw distance so you don't have to see the other lots!
