http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/11/13/clarification-of-policy-disallowing-ageplay/What about avatars that are shorter then 6 feet? You know the ones that chose not to be 8 foot tall crack whores. Are the lindens going to at least investigate before the choose to ban said avatar? Because they might be really short, or have a small chest. (I'm generally talking about female avatars.)

I don't think it will go quite that far. I'm very short, 5'. I've only once had someone question me, when I was in the Amsterdam sim (going to the Escher exhibit no less!). I very clearly look like an adult - you can tell by my body shape and facial appearance. And the way I speak and behave. Plus, I dress like an adult. Even the few times I've put on clothing which may be a bit younger looking (my "Gothic Lolita" dress comes to mind) I still do not look like a kid - just someone going clubbing.
I'm not concerned personally.

It states that different traits are taken into account. In other words, just because you are short, you shouldn't be AR'd. It takes a combination of things, like 'speech' pattern, height, things normally associated with children and appearance to get you nailed.. er.. I mean, in trouble. If you are a short, normally proportioned female, with normal adult speech patterns and not around the kids toys, then it's not a problem as far as LL is concerned.

and yet their crappy wording is going to cause a whole new wave of paranoid accusations based on 'proximity' and 'catering' and even 'sex bed' (I mean seriously a bed is just a damn bed if you aren't lying on it using seuxal animations) and and really, is there a sign that pops up for me to know when I'm near a SCRIPT that's sexual in nature, come on now, honestly? ::eyeroll::

From the blog. Read it before you start threads like this: From: someone We understand that in some cases there may be an element of subjectivity as to whether an avatar (or other image) appears to be a minor. Objective factors which will be used to decide include whether an avatar has child-like facial features, is sized as a child, has clothing or accessories generally associated with children, and whether, based on the circumstances, an avatar is speaking or acting like a child (e.g. “My Mommy says…”).

I find the age play quite yukky. I have a short avi under 5' 5" but the ones who are kids are obviously kids.

Why is it that whenever LL lay out a policy that doesn't deal in detail with every little nuance of a situation that people start complaining? Are people incapable of making judgements for themselves? Do you really need to be told exactly what you can and can't do? The policy is clear - no sexual behaviour involving AVs that appear to be children. There are inevitably going to be grey areas, if only because of variations in RL laws - here in the UK the age of consent is 16, so sex with an AV that seems to be in its late teens is not involving children, in other countries the age of consent is older or younger - but as the blog says, if in doubt, don't do it. If you stray into one of the grey areas and get caught it seems unlikely that they will immediately ban you, immediate bans seem far more likely for clear violations of the policy. By setting out a clear policy, but not giving detailed rules, LL are both covering their own backs and allowing themselves to deal with situatons as they arise, and also treating us like adults who are capable of making our own decisions about what we do.
