Fraud, Theft, and Underage Invaded Second Life!


Lately there had been a lot of theft going on second life, people offering you services and once they get paid with Lindens you never see them again.
The number underage kids playing the game have increased as well!
Moreover the FRAUD is getting WORSE on secondlife, why?
The Reason is simple which I will explain now. I played second life from the year 2005, in the past you would need a credit card to create an account and prove that you are above 18 years OLD, not to mention secondlife would have your real name and address as well. Right now any 13 years OLD kid can create an account and claim in the game that he is 18 years OLD. Not to mention anyone can now create an account using a fake name, address and start to rip off people on secondlife.

Moreover the harassment on secondlife has increased, if you have a land or a nice shop you will have people harsse you and ask you for LINDENS or REAL LIFE money otherwise they will just ruin your business.
You might all say open a COMPLAIN which I did many times and I never GOT a respond from secondlife and the problem kept on going. I am a man who pays more than 4000$ a month how is it fair for me as a PAYING CUSTOMER to secondlife to have my BUSINESS RUNIED from people that I complained many times about and who are still playing the GAME under a FAKE NAME AND ADDRESS!

Many people started leaving this game, there are many other games on the internet and if Linden LAB don’t take our inside game complains seriously about those scammers and kids then we will find another better game that would take us PAYING CUSTOMERS seriously instead of PROTECTING those scammers who would just create an AVATAR with a FAKE NAME AND ADDRESS and HURT our Business and HARASS US in GAME.

I'm not sure specifically what the problem is. If people ask you for money, tell them no. If they do it again, mute them.

Don't pay anyone for work until it is delivered. I'm not sure what kind of 'service' you are paying for, but if you have paid for a service and it was not...completed...then don't pay for that type of service anymore. Or if you need someone to perform that service for you, then check references.

I guess if you were a little more specific about what has happened (without naming names, of course), someone might have an answer for you.

I'm sad that you feel this way. I must be very very lucky, as I run into generally polite behaviour from others.

Hmm..once or twice in 2 1/2 years I've had people beg, and I've walked away, after saying no. I've run into the odd goober in a sandbox..not too big a deal. Certainly nobody has threatened to ruin my business, and they'd be out on their bony little bum if they tried.

I don't know where you have been "lately" but if you continually attract the people you describe, I think it might not be SL's fault...

has been a huge spike in theft in game latly,
As far as opening a account with fake info that has been np sence i started in 2007.
children in game,blame their parents,no children should have net in a place out of sight of their parents.IF you let your children run the net with out watching 9 out of 10 will do something they would not if you where around.....

When I owned a club, I did have some "mobsters" try to shake me down for protection money. I found that "Eject and Ban" worked pretty well against them.
