So i've recently made a camisk by the book but when i try too change the texture colour on the prim skirt layer it seems too go funny. One side is right and the other seems too start light and go darker as it moves downward. What have i done wrong and can i fix it? the avatar mesh is horrible. its lighing and color calculations are totally different from anything else. its physics is totally different from anything else. do not attempt to get a smooth transitions. its impossible.

I think what Ollj is saying that the texture mesh that is used for clothing on avatars has limitations. I don't make clothing, but friends who do have loudly complained about the avatar mesh. I know somewhere there is a mesh that you can 'wear' on your avatar to test how clothing fits on the mesh. Someone must know what that is called and where to get it.
Have you taken any of the making clothing classes offered in-world? That problem has to have been brought up. It couldn't hurt to check out those classes and maybe get the answer to your problem.

If you mean the difference in colour between the mesh garment and the prim attachment, I don't think there is a way to match them because of the way lighting affects things. You can get it right in one position but then move to a different position and it's all wrong again. Face one way and it's lighter, turn around and it's darker. I had the same problem when I was trying to match the colour of a prim to the skin on a furry avatar. I found that it was less noticeable if using a texture that is patterned in some way; in my case I used a speckled fur-like texture. You might have better success with patterned fabric textures instead of plain ones, but the join will always be visible to some extent, nothing you can do about it.
