Is anyone offering a tool or tutorial that will help me export an SL build to .3ds format?

please consult the Building Tips forum, which covers this topic exhaustively.

That forum appears to mostly deal with options for importing builds into SL. Upon searching for "export to .3ds" I get 3 threads that don't seem to address the issue.

Perhaps since it was covered so exhaustively you could recomend a format or tool here and help me out?

Anyone?

The point is, this is not the appropriate forum for this question. Ask it there. What is covered exhaustively is the body of questions relating to sculpties and... building.

Really it seems that if you don't know you could have just skipped this thread rather than just pointing me to go somewhere else.

Maybe I'll ask there and I'll for sure search some more.

If anyone knows by chance this "exhaustively" shared information on EXPORTING from SL to .3ds then please let me know.

Thanks

Pointing out where you're most likely to get an answer is in fact being helpful. People who follow the Building sub-forum don't necessarily follow "Resident Answers".

Cristalle, Alicia, and Kitty are right, Lowen. This is not the appropriate place to ask this kind of question. Had you posted this in Building Tips, where it belongs, you'd likely have gotten half a dozen answers by now. Instead, all you've gotten are four different people (including me) telling you you're in the wrong place.

Even if you were right that this topic has never been discussed in Building Tips (which you're not), that wouldn't make it any less the right place to ask. No one ever talked about any of the other topics there before the first time either.

Asking questions is precisely why the forums exist. If you don't see the answer to a question you have, just ask the question. Don't worry about whether it has or hasn't been discussed before. Just ask.

But to go deliberately to the wrong place just because you couldn't find a pre-existing answer in the right place is just plain silly. Head over to Building Tips, ask the question there, and you'll find plenty of people eager to discuss this topic with you.

Oh, and by the way, the reason you couldn't find anything under "export to .3ds" is because the forum has a minimum search criteria of 4-character words, and I don't think punctuation counts. So all you actually searched for was "export". The word "to" was definitely not included, and ".3ds" probably wasn't either. (Explanations like this about how the forums work are appropriate for Resident Answers :))
