Video Driver Problems

System specs:

HP Pavillion dv9700 Notebook
Intel Core2 Duo T5750 2GHz
Ram: 4GB
OS: Vista Home Premium 64
HD: 320GB
Graphics: nVidia GeForce 8600M GS
Driver: 7.15.11.7432

The last two days, when loading viewer, screen flashes then goes black. I get a message that video driver has stopped and recovered, but viewer is frozen and does not recover.

This is occuring on the standard viewer, snowglobe, emerald viewer, and nicholaz viewer.
They will not load far enough to clear cache through the preferences menu, so I also tried uninstalling all viewers, deleting the sl app data files and reinstalling the standard viewer.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Make sure there's no dust in the fans, vents, etc. and that the fans are spinning freely.

You might try uninstalling the video driver and reinstalling the same video driver.

You might try a system restore.
