Is is possible to display a web page on a prim, and if yes, is it then possible to actually make it interactive with basic front, back and reload commands.

Yes, it can be displayed on a prim, but it's an image of the page and cannot be interatced with.

You can make a prim link to a website by touching it, though, and then it is interactive. There's a site called 'Script Me' that enables you to do this easily.
It has ready made script templates that you can copy into SL and load into objects.
It's very user-friendly.

In this case the prim doesn't display the pages as textures but opens the viewer's browser intstead.

There's a script in the scripting forums that will let you set a page and display it on a prim. It will also do a google search, (entered in chat.) and will let you for forward and backward ONE cached page. And let you load the page in your browser when you click the prim displaying the web page.

So far, that's about the most internet interaction I've seen at this point.

Heaven help you if that prim should ever show a user's Profile pic.
