Hello, I hope someone can help me out.

I was recently made a manager at a club to help keep an eye on things while the owner takes some time off. The Owner has given me mod/edit rights on her items so I can shift things around as need be while she's gone, but when I try I can't move a thing. I was wondering if this might have to do with the group tag that she had in place while placing the items, or if this is another fun-filled SL glitch that I've not had a reason to experience before?

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
Thanks!

Welcome Pais- no need for quaking- mostly a friendly bunch and if any one gets out of hand whack them on the nose with a rolled up newspaper!

you mentioned tags - you can check what group stuff is set to by right click inspect. Check your tag too to make sure u r wearing the proper group one. Good luck and welcome aboard :)

Hi Paisley,welcome to the forums.:)

I noticed if an item is no mod sometimes I can't move my alt's stuff unless she sets it to group and makes it "anyone can move". Maybe it is a no mod item? I am not sure if this is a consistent thing or not though. Just noticed it a couple of times.

one other thing - if the object is "deeded to group" it's no longer her object... it's owned by the group. You may not be able to edit those based on your group member role. Aldo, make sure the "locked" button isn't checked on the Object tab in the edit menu.

In the Build menu, do you have "Select only my objects" ticked? That one gets me every time!

Edit: At least, I *think* it's the Build menu. Could be a different one; can't get in-world to check. If you pull down the top menus, it's in the top section of whichever one it is.

Hi all, and thanks! (For the suggestions and the welcome)

I was playing with it, and I guess I have to *really* want to move the item. If I hit edit once on the item, the build/edit box pops up but is grayed out. If I go back to the item and hit edit a second time, then I can move it!

I'll just chalk it up to more Sl wierdness and move on from here. Thanks Again!

You have "Select only my objects" enabled.
SL gets a lot of blame it doesn't deserve for things like this.

You cannot move stuff around, even if the owner has given you mod rights, if the owner has locked the objects, so check this first.

There is one problem about mod rights that I am unsure about: after being given mod rights by the owner of a rental sim, I needed to sort out a door that a tenant was complaining about. The object says I can modify this object, and indeed I can resize it, move it, etc. However, in the Contents there is an Instruction Notecard, and when I try to open it it tells me I do not have permission. Could never figure out this behavior.

Contents of an object can have different permissions than the containing object. Frequently you will find that a mod-enabled object may contain scripts or animations that you are not permitted to open or edit.

That is correct, but those permission restrictions would also affect the owner of the object. In this case it is an instruction notecard which the owner of the object can open, but someone who he has given mod-rights to cannot.

Welcome to forums.
I have done lots and lots of group building.
There are some things even with sharing mod rights you can't do.
You can't change a prim you don't own or do own if the permissions are different but
problems with movement of a prim I never experienced this.
I share mod rights with at least 4 friends and 4 alts.
My friends and Alts who have it can move single prims without it having full permissions but sometimes when we were doing group build they can edit faces of textures.
I never quite experienced them not being able to move something yet.
But it might be it is deeded but that shouldn't necessarily effect it either as long as you wearing the group title unless the server being really goofy in the sim you're at.
