When I first came onto SL several months ago, I would click on Communicate and get a box showing local chat, with tabs at the bottom that blinked whenever I got an IM. All were accessible from that one box.
Since the last upgrade, i can no longer get that integrated communication box. Every IM opens as its own window, and a giant one at that that I can't type into unless I click on the "tear off" icon. It doesn't matter if I tell it to Redock windows, nothing works.
Anyone else had this problem, and more importantly, know how to fix it?

Each box can be disconnected from one anoter. Click the small icon in the upper right hand side of the box to have them connect to one another again.

also on the communications window, there is an uparrow for a drop up? list hehe... anywho on that list you can choose redock windows and that will put all your windows back in the communications window

I have already tried redocking. When I do the box gets so big I can't see the spot at the bottom to type, and there is no way to make it smaller without tearing it off.
I'm wondering if it is a resolution issue, that somehow my screen resolution is showing boxes too large to see the tabs at the bottom.
Thanks for your suggestions all, just keep em coming.

What resolution are you running SL at?
I'd suggest deleting the settings.xml files for the versions you are using in C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings (on a default installlation of SL on Windows)
The normal client's settings file is settings.xml. The release candidate's settings file is settings_releasecandidate.xml.
