Hi. I'm having some issues with avi appearance....

I wanna make a short movie in SL about a guy and his little sister going around to different worlds and stuff... but the problem is that when I made his sister... she's a kid and everything's right but.... KIDS DO NOT HAVE BREASTS.... but I can't get them to completly go away. So it just looks... wrong... Is that fixable or is that hardcoded to where I can't do anything about it. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

It is not fixable. You can try changing the cleavage and buoyancy sliders to move what remains to a more suitable position for you.

Remember the Avatar is not a kid avatar, its an adult woman avatar you shrunk to look like a kid.

Possibly you can make or get a flexiprim chest or a flexiprim dress or shirt to cover the unwanted breast development.

when I did my kid avatars I found that clothing that is unhighlighted on the texture helps a lot, plus using a face light to wash out the shadows helps give it the flattened appearance.

keep in mind you will need local lighting to see the facelight effect (chest light in this case hehe)

Cool tahnks... what's a face light.

Well her shirt doesn't have a texture. It's just blank... a flexi prim shirt... hmmm..

Where can I get those at? can I possibly edit or shirt or make a flexiprim shirt...... although I'm not really sure how to make one... sorry, I'm kind of a n00b at the more advance buidling stuf...

You could go the opposite way and use a shirt or dress with an elaborate pattern on the front that hides much of the shape. Or you can dress in black... I'd also suggest a babydoll dress that helps hide a lot of the flaws of the kid's shape.

A face light is just a prim or several prims that are attached to some part of the head and are set as light sources. They light up the face and basically remove any shadows from the face.

This may sound wierd, but couldn't you shrink a male avatar and use a female skin and hair?

There would be one rather bad side effect. The avatar would laugh, cry and boo sounding like an adult male.

Only if you left those gestures enabled instead of switching them out for the female versions. You've got both in your inventory. Or just start with the female av and wear the male shape. I've got no experience with this, but it seems like it should be an easy fix.

Thanks. I'll try those... Hmm... a face light seems a bit more complicated... a baby doll dress huh? Any idea where I can get one?

Hm, starting with a male avi ... that's an intersting idea.... gestures, forgot about those.

I'll let you know what I come up with. Thanks!

Like has already been mentioned, it's an issue with the avatar mesh, and not exactly fixable. You can minimize it, but not entirely get rid of it. I'm not sure what shape you are using, but I could suggest some good ones that do a fair job of reducing the issue. Also, good outfitting will help with this as well: check out outfits at Chelsea's Children's Clothes in Starlight Starbright or Kick The Can in Livingtree for some options. I'd recommend darker colors over lighter, too, as well as a pattern to help camoflauge things. the cut of the top also helps.

The male avvie for a female character *is* an option, but you run into the limitations of the mesh there, too. the "package" is not fully reducable, nor are the shoulders.
