Do Terrain Textures Change?

Has anyone seen anything similar?

A couple of weeks ago I did some time consuming texture matching to make objects blend into the terrain. I log in today and a section of what was previously grass has changed to rock. It's makes sense as it turns it into a kind of outcrop halfway up a steep hill but how did it happen?

BTW my land is on a mainland sim.

Yes, they do change. I've no clue why, but the blending changes now and again - probably whneever the sim is re-started.

There are also glitches that happen sometimes in terrain rendering, which will cause certain areas to render as if at the wrong altitude. It's dificult to predict those, but they can throw things way off.

Usually any 'changes' of that nature are temporary, unless the sim owner (LL for mainland) decides to change the 4 actual texture choices for the sim, or the altitudes at each sim corner for the lowest and highest transition points.

Possibly LL may have made some adjustments to terrain texture options for that sim, to make the overall effect better.

I like the effect well enough but it's going to be a whole heap of work to match the textures now as it needs to graduate from rock to grass.

Ah well, guess I'll just build something over the join.

I have seen that too on our beach.

Sometimes there is more grass than usual; more sand.

It can be after a sim restart.
