RC8 and "despite our best efforts..."

Since I installed RC8, I get the "Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong" error each time I try to log in - once. Then a second log-in attempt is successful.

My internet connection is only fair-to-middling these days and this could be part of the problem - but this is so repeatable that I don't think it's a symptom of a flaky connection. Every single time I start up SL - first I get "despite our best efforts ..." and the second time I can log in.

Does anyone else experience anything like this?

My dear madhu
It's only you
Who cannot thus get through.

You should not try
To find out why
In case it makes you cry.

Perhaps your hue
So very blue
Will help you not to rue.

I've been experiencing exactly what you described with RC8... I never connect on the first attempt, and get that error. Second attempt gets me in fine. Very strange.

Same results here.
First login gets error message
Second login works fine

This happens on two different computers with two different internet connections.

Hm, so other people are seeing it too!

I have never started a JIRA before, I wonder if this is a good time to figure out how to do that.

There is already a jira, but it's hard to find, apparently started with RC7. Seems to be something to do with Vista for most people.

Thanks for posting the JIRA, Wulfric - voted. :D Oh, and since I neglected to offer my specs in the original post, I was seeing the problem on my Vista laptop.

THis build is just getting worse. Crashing during Teleporting crashing when it appears to be a more then normal large memory leak again. and .........................................and again the crash reporter fails to send data... So how are they suppose to fix the client if the crash reporter doesnt transmit the data back to LLABS?

Yes, I get exactly the same thing with RC8 - first attempt fails, second attempt fine.
