How do you change your personal info?

Hi,

I'm trying to change the name and the password as well as my e-mail address on my account which would also cover these forums but it won't let me do it.

I went to my account where my e-mail address is. I changed the address to my new address but when I click it it returns to the old address again. On these forums I also tried it but it says the new address is not the one registered.

I'm directed to go to support but once there you have to continue going from place to place in what seems like a neverending search only to come full circle to where I first began.

How can I change my personal information in here? My e-mail address, my name and password on my account? The support system they have here is terrible.

Carlos - You should be able to change your email and password on your account page. I have changed the email, but never the password. If it's not working, I'd suggest giving it a little time and trying again. As far as changing the name, you can't change your SL name unless you start over and open a new account.

(This is the website My Account screen, accessible from the left-hand menu on for exampe the Community screen, not the User CP screen in the forums).

They both work fine if you follow the directions, which are just like any other website.

As Lola said, there is no way to change your avatar's name.

Also, the avatar login for the website and the forums is the same. The only way to have a different forum login from your main avatar is to have an "alt" ... a second avatar, and only use them for the forums.

I didn't mean the avatar name. I meant the name and password you use when you login sl.

Now, I received an e-mail saying my password had been changed but the name and the e-mail remains the same. This is the other parts I need to change.

the email can be changed under "Contact info" or https://secure-web12.secondlife.com/account/contact_info.php

the account registration details can`t be changed as far as i know unless directed by LL, maybe open a support ticket asking to change it with a statement of why you want to change it

You HAVE to use your avatar name along with your password to log in. Since you CAN'T change your avatar name - you CAN'T change your password name. Unfortunate, I know...

But I recall changing the password over a year ago. But maybe they changed it now as now it won't change.

This is where I went to "Contac info" but after I enter the new info and I click send it reverts to the old e-mail again. Could be a bug.

Carlos - you have to hit the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the Contact Info screen, not just hit Enter/Send on your keyboard.

If you just hit Enter, the screen will say that it has updated your settings, but really no change takes place until you hit "Save Changes".

I think she means the password name as in your avatar/login name, not the actual password

you can change you password, and email, but you can not change the avatar name

I know of one instance where they fixed someone's name and capitalized it

other than that, nope

and that is rare

I finally got it to work and was able to change both my e-mail and password although not the login name. This last one I will continuing trying.

You cannot change your login name. It IS your avatar name, and always will be.

You won't be able to change your login name. Your login name is your avatar name. Your avatar name can't be changed by any means other than contacting the Linden staff, and they are exceedingly unlikely to change it.
