How To Manage Group Finances?

If you have a group that owns land and does business, and you need to account for money required from/paid out to/spent by group members, what's the best way to do it?

I see there's a window in Group Info to account for sales, but there doesn't seem to be any way to create an actual group $L account.

I recall that Trout created an alt for this purpose for the Forum Hangout project. That'd work...but I still have some questions.

Who should have access to the alt's account? One group member? Two? All group officers?

Is there any way to impose a withdrawal limit? Say, $L1,000, with larger amounts requiring group approval?

How do you collect rentals? Do most of you use something like Hippo Pay? Or just have tenants pay the group's alt's account directly?

There isn't a good way to do group accounting. Be very careful about sharing an alt's account or even talking about it on the forum since it is a clear violation of the TOS to share account information at all.

The Hippo rental system can easily be set up to split rent payments by percentage among several people.

I guess it really comes down to a matter of trust among the individuals involved in the group about who really controls access to the finances.

Thank you, Kathy. Oops, I'd forgotten about that TOS clause, you're quite right. I will look into the Hippo system.
