Now that I am moving my businesses to my new parcel, I am thinking about what things would help to get more people to my place. Like everyone does of course. Currently I pay for both locations, but in a weekor two I want to be moved completely.

Now there are the following things that I can think of, some I implemented, some I really do not know anything about.

- rank well in Search. Something I put quite some effort in, and does pay off.
- use ad boards. Something I participate in already. It is a pay per click system, so my name gets out and I only pay for people that actually request a landmark.
- Put up Zyngo. Would that be worth the price (2500 linden per machine)?
- Put up those midnight madness boards. I have those somewhere in inventory, but have a feeling that those attract only freebie hunters instead of potential customers.
- Use SL ads. Of course I have a few 50 linden ads out.
- XStreet promotion. I am using a few homepage featured items to get traffic there, which works out fine.

Any more ideas, or ideas about the above?

Traffic bots. Use lots of traffic bots to simulate your place's popularity, and people will come to buy your stuff. Trust me on this.

I used a Midnight Mania board recently with a prize worth L$2000. It got blogged in several places and my traffic and sales shot through the roof. I gave away 5,000 sets of poses in a 3 week period. And my sales went up 1200 percent during that period.

My normal traffic numbers are 200-400 per day. My traffic numbers went up to around 6000 per day. People would teleport their alts in and just leave them standing there.

The only problem was that so many people teleporting in and out lagged the sim. At times, it became unusable and had to be restarted.

If you give away an item that people will want, Midnight Mania is a viable solution.

LOL Phil :-) Might try that one, do you by any chance have some bots I can rent?

@Cheree: The only problem is, how to find out what people want. Might try it out with sexbeds, everything with sex in it must work :-)

Speed Dating on Wednesday Nights. Set up your dining room sets, and add a twist. Instead of putting people together one-on-one....put 9 at a table, and it's sink or swim.

Happy Hour later, upstairs, with classes and demos on enriching your SL.

Going by the "It's in a mall, now" thread -

Stick a club in the middle.
BUT -
Have a big "NO WOOTING" sign.

Run "Best In Chat competitions"

Run "Worst in Emoting" competitions - the prize being ejection from the parcel.
I'm sure that if word got around, people would show up to cheer as the Wooters and Chat Spam Emoters got booted :)

We've certainly found Midnight Mania boards work a treat. I was skeptical at first, thinking it would just bring in freebie hunters, but I was proved wrong. We've set it up so you have to walk through the shop to get to the boards, and it would certainly seem that a sizable minority stop en route to buy something that's caught their eye.

This is one of those times being on Zindra is a plus, I think. At least we know that most of our visitors do actually have L$ to spend.

Not to mention now taboo. Actually *any* method to artificially inflate page rankings is (although that is a huge grey area) but especially traffic bots.

Post some product specials in the 'Products' thread in these forums. I always do my late night shopping from the new product threads - especially if they include pictures and they are giving a freebie just for dropping by.

Don't listen to 'em, Marcel. Traffic bots are the way to go - as many as you can manage - especially in a box, high up in the sky where nobody will know they are there.

You want to attract green dots. Lucky chairs with something decent in them on a fairly short schedule keeps your green dots around longer.

The first weekor so that I used the MidnightMania board, my traffic and sales did increase. After that, it became a circus of freebiers with hardly any sales.

I used the Luckychair, but later saw that the same people kept winning, in the same day and began to think "something fishy here" and overall it brought no sales, so I removed it.

Look at the number of times articles are read for items similar to yours. My new product posts tend to get on the order of 20 views. That's not worth the effort of making the post.

Midnight Mania rocks, and their are groups to notify when the Boards are not locked down, product creators and consumers advertise all day long. this will bring business up noticibly :)

Well thanks for all your suggestions. Reactions:

* Despite Phil's efforts, I will not go the evil bot way, as they are against the TOS nowadays :-)

* Speed dating sounds kewl but needs too much attention, I want something that runs without putting too much time into it. It is something I will keep in mind though as it might be nice as an event one day. Events is something I want to look into anyway, as long as someone else organizes them for me ;)

* The animal thing Seven came up with is not to clear to me, are there animals around that people can play with? And no, don't tell me that a stable of those animals was placed next to where Mari lives, those animals are not suited for my place ;)

* Seven Seas I could do, how much space is in general needed for that? And do those fishies swim in prim water as well?

* Midnight Mania I will put up again, and try to put in stuff that actually attracts people. It is a waste to keep it in inventory anyway.

* New items I post on the forum anyway, every view counts, even if it is just 20.

@Argent: It is not the green dots themselves I am after, it is potential customers. That is why I want to make the right choices: things that get 20 avatars per hour in,who are not the least interested in buying anything, is useless. Traffic I do not care about, customers I do.

I didn't mean anything dirty. Yes, there are animals that people can play with.

I was talking about something like this:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Canis%20Beach/51/86/21/

which is a dog park. You could have all sorts of animals there. You could call it a petting zoo.

Will check on this later on, when I can access SL. Completely clueless about this,so I am curious!
