Cos I'll be jiggered if I can work this out. I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of, different key combos when touching (the box, not myself, naughty!), I've tried touch and wear, wear and touch... nada!!!!!! Have IM'd the creator, tried to watch the Easybox demo vid on YouTube (crashes), tried to use the demo in world for the Easybox system (don't even get me started). Argh!! Am I Ruth the First? Am I just fecking stupid?

What does this mean?! It's a complex item I don't REALLY want to have to spend three hours aligning!

***edit - the You Tube video now working, it explains touch and hold thusly: "To unpack, touch and hold". No demonstration of what they mean by this.

Head, desk, thump.

Mash your finger on the click and never let go? Perhaps after your finger muscles seize it will work?

It should mean put the cursor on the object, press the mouse button, and don't release the mouse button.

Hold down the mouse button?

More of a lingering caress than a touch?

I've come across scripted objects like that.
A few people too.

I'm guessing that the script is using a touch_start (mouse down), setting a timer, and looking for a certain time to elapse without a touch_end (mouse up) occurring.

So, left-click the object and hold the mouse button (for who knows how long), and hope something happens.

Personally, I prefer scripting a double-click as a way of triggering some special function but the real problem is that the scripting language isn't very rich when it comes to detecting mouse events.

Good luck!

Was going to say that as well. When we set certain doors on our estate you click and hold the click till you get a message up. Easy when you know how but since 99% of stuff it is a simple click and stop it can be confusing.

I rarely use a mouse and that's not so easy when you are using a laptop with a touchpad. Not a good idea IMO.

Yep, tried that. Tried for up to a minute - all that happens is that when I let go of the mouse button I get the message to touch and hold to unpack. LOL. I am trying to realign all 19 linksets manually instead. Grrr.

I *hate* touchpads on laptops.

They started it.
I didn't begin to hate them until after they repeatedly demonstrated their utter contempt for me and what I was trying to do.

Try it with a mouse?

I hated them at first too - but I got used to it and can do most things more quickly using the touchpad now. It's just practice. You need to know to use the buttons as well for "touch and hold" - it's a two finger job ;)

Hi Cherry :)

Perhaps it's just broken. I'd get back in touch with the creator, I think.

Since she's talking about having to align different pieces I'd guess it's a rezzer rather than an actual "give me the contents" box.

If the item is copyable, try using a fresh copy of the rezzer rather than one you've unsuccessfully attempted to unpack. I don't know the item, but it may be that it's stuck somewhere -- certainly using a fresh rezzer has solved many of my problems when things have gone wrong with complex rezzers like that.

*wear*

I don't know anything about this system but somehow attaching a rezzer doesn't seem part of the process. (Or maybe "wearing" it was just one of the many attempts to trick it into behaving?)

Just FYI

You can attach a mouse to a laptop.

You can even get a wireless bluetooth mouse that works with most contemporary laptops without the need of a USB adapter.

Yeah, but those wireless ones chew thru batteries like there's no tomorrow -- but it is still better than the damn touchpad.
