I loaded the newest verison of Zonealarm Extreme security suite (2010) on my system. I can bring up the login page for SL, login succesfully and on the grid but my system pretty much freezes up without even rezzing the my homeland. Any super duper experts out there using the same Security software and resolved the issue. In the meantime i reverted back to a previous verison. I googled and search everywhere if anyone has had this problem and not luck !

Thank you so much in advance and have a wonderful SL !

It may have blocked a port that SL needs.

Zone Alarm is trouble.

I prefer Avast Home.

I quit Zone Alarm after Argent here in the forums informed me that the most possible reason i had not been able to print over the network in those past 4+ months was because of Zone Alarm, so i uninstalled it and *poo* printing worked again.

Any program that requires i go through and set all kinds of options just to prevent it from stopping my normal everyday computer use an functionality is not worth using in my book.

I also tried Comodo, but that had a lot of pop-up-action happening with requests to ALLOW/DENY - ugh.

Avast is nice and smart and non-invasive. However, with all that said, lots of people love Zone Alarm and probably don't print over the network and therefore never experienced my problem.

The Force Field component of ZAES does not mix very well with SL even if it is not enabled. I tried last year's version and had to uninstall it because my SL kept freezing up. I posted a thread here about the problem I was having and others reported similar experiences.

Anyways, you won't be missing much if you don't use it. It appears to be mediocre at best:

I'm suspecting it blocks incomming utp trafic and or port 13000 (at least I think that was the default utp port for sim trafic)
might have to setup a rule to alow incoming utp

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope it has an uninstall option.

Seriously, when I was network admin, I had so much trouble with vendor and customer laptops with ZoneAlarm installed. My recommendation was simply to avoid programs like that. Client-based firewalls are inherently subject to client-based attacks, and stronger firewalls provide little additional protection from remote attacks over the basic packet filter in the OS.
