Hello,
I have Estate Manager Access to a private Island. I thought this would allow me to build on the entire Island but it doesn't as there are parts of the Island that I can terraform but not build on. These parts are sectioned off for certain groups which I am not a part of.
I was wondering what further access I need to repartition the land allotted for these groups? Can only one avatar have Land Owner access to a private Island?

If you are a group member yes you can build, But as far as Estate Manager, No. Just how it is

If the land is 'sold' to them, and they are paying tier to the sim owner for a certain sized parcel, then you cannot 'repartition' the parcel, because when they purchased it, that's the size they purchased and it's in their name. (It IS in their name, right?) EDIT: And yes, the sim is owned by one avatar who is responsible for the tier payments to LL. That person would have to either reclaim the parcel, or it would have to be abandoned to them, so that those groups didn't own it anymore. Then it can be reparcelled/resized. As for estate managers, you can have a bunch of 'em. See World/Region-Estate/Estate for the Estate managers list.

What you can do is turn on 'land sale' on the estate controls, abandon the land (anyone's land) ~ then sell it to yourself and divide it up any way you please. Once done, you can set the land for sale to whomever you like, if you want to 'give back' land in whatever format you choose to other people. But this isn't to say that you *should* do these things! Check with the people involved. I'm just saying that estate management rights have these powers technically. Dangers: If you reclaim one of a few parcels deeded to this group or that, it's entirely possible that you will leave the remaining parcels with fewer prims allotted, than they have placed out. In which case, chunks of their build might start suddenly returning. Bad, bad, bad thing! I would strongly suggest talking to whomever you got the island from, to see how they expect you to use your estate powers. Having estate powers isn't the same thing as "do whatever you want" most of the time. Good luck!

Okay thanks a bunch, selling the land worked. I was able to join all of the plots and then sell them to my self.
The Island is owned by my university, currently it is only going to be used used for a 2 week interactive learning module.
Which brings me to my next question.
Teams of students will be given plots of land with a store which they will decorate as well as perform some other tasks.
What would be the best way to partition the land rights associated with each store?
Each team will have 1 predetermined avatar.
The previous instance involved partitioning each plot of land by using group rights. Each teams avatars was registered to the group associated with each store.
Would you prefer this method over partitioning and selling each plot of land to each avatar? If I was to sell plots of land would I still be able to modify objects on that plot of land such as resetting scripts?
Also, I've been working on making the Island more aesthetically pleasing and better suited for some activities such as a scavenger hunt. I was wondering where a good place would be to get some feedback on the Island from people experienced in second life. To make it easier to navigate and a more enjoyable experience for students who have little/no experience in second life.

basically you should leave it all one group, one that your in so you keep control. the participants should be in that group also. section the land into parcels, work out the ratio of prims each parcel has, it could be part of the task that they do not use more than their allocated prims and that they use the land info to determine the parcel parameters themselves, the boundary shows up as a yellow line.
