Okay, Jig's question this evening relies upon honesty. By the way, I just watched "On the Waterfront" with Brando and Eve Marie Sainte so my question is coloured by moral obligations etc. Have you become a better person in reality due to interactions in sl? Or is Sl simply an extension of your nasty nature? What has SL taught you?

yes and no, yes and no, erm.....
i'm not sure what it has taught me. Confidence? I have better knowledge of graphics programs. its given me a look at different cultures and put me in touch with amzing people and given me amazing experiences.
And i agree with maggie - even the arseholes need love.

Hey! Maggie. I knew you couldn't resist me.
SL hasn't made me a better person, but the people I have met in SL and here have made me a better person.
SL is an extension of me, but I'm not all that nasty.
SL has taught me not to judge a book by its cover. It's taught me humility. It has taught me that no matter how jaded or out of sorts you get, the sight of something unbelieveably creative made by an incredibly talented person can restore your faith and lift your spirits. It has taught me to define friendships by the quality of people with whom I interact rather than their geological proximity. There's more. I have found something very special in SL that I had never expected to find, or maybe had given up hope that it even existed.
Despite all of our griping and all of the things we so readily point out that are wrong with SL, we have something pretty special here. Maybe I already knew those things that I just said SL taught me, but I believe if I did, SL has reinforced them in a very positive way.

better? eh more social...
extension of my nasty nature? nah, it's extended my helpful nature, with little impact on the nasty part =)
what have I learned? that no matter what a thing is once people get past it's newness, they'll start complaining about what it isn't =P
what's it all for? guess that depends on you... entertainment, a hobby, business opportunity, someplace convenient to hang out and talk to friends, a creative outlet... the list goes on... for me it's therapy, an excuse to excercise mental, social, & creative skills and get back to my more community minded roots =)

I'm exactly the same here, as I am in RL. Perhaps, a bit more experimental in some aspects, but my essence is truly me. I am as tolerant, open-minded, non-judgemental, friendly, caring, and loving as I am here. I've always had all kinds of friends, from all walks of life, in different age groups, and differing mindsets. I tend to keep to myself quite a bit, come out and socialize when the mood hits, have the desire to express my views, and don't suffer fools gladly.
Coming into SL was very easy for me, a fluid transition in many ways. While I found it surprising in some aspects, how deep a life one could create here, it became second nature, easily.
For me, it has not so much changed me, as elevated me. I think it's made me even more aware, of the good qualities I possessed already. The people I've met here, have a lot to do with this discovery, maybe, even everything to do with it.

Better no. I am same way I have been in real life prior to coming to SL but I have had experiences that have led me to believe that perhaps their is hope for humanity if that counts.

Not exactly.. I'm more social than I am in RL, though it is rubbing off on RL a little bit.. so a little yeah.. but mostly.. I'm a better person in SL than in RL lol I'm a good person.. just takes a bit of time for me to prove it cause I'm shy =P

Not really. No Not really I find that no matter how I can visualize better uses of neat technology, people being people, will ruin things somehow---but then I alrerady knew that.
