Hello,
I searched the forums and knowledge base but without success so will ask here now:
Can someone explain to me Group Dividends?
When do they apply and what are they paid for?
I own different groups and for some dividends are paid for others not... I just want to understand it somehow to explain myself to others. And then where does the dividend go? For one group I have an enrollment fee of 10L ... where do these linden $ end up? The group itself doesn't pay for land or anything...
Thanks for any reply!

Anyone who pays liabilities into the group, will receive a cut from all proceedings payed to the group. You may want to revise every one of your group's member roles. If you want to be the only one who receives proceedings, you will have to uncheck the 'Pay Group Liabilities' item listed in the Members & Roles tab for all other roles. I am assuming you are the sole group owner, otherwise, all owners divide the proceedings among themselves. All this process is done by LL accounting, not the residents.

Thank you for the reply!!
I had no idea that by default everyone is included there and well miss in general a documentation somewhere about groups and all the roles and abilities... Still not really sure what the change i made now does but i will see i hope... 10L is nothing to get rich at all and only meant to make people show a bit serious interest and just joining...

This is a good question - so the enrollment money gets split evenly between those with the 'Pay Group Liabilities" role? presumably if the group owns land the costs of the land are split evenly between those as well.
Is there any sort of payment that LL gives to groups based on its size? I thought I may have read about that somewhere but that would seem odd to me.

LL used to pay stipend to groups, the amount varied depending on number of members. This stipend was discontinued a long time ago. Long before First Land went belly up.

Open Enrollment...
12-18-2007 13:53
So how does it work? I put the group on "Open Enrollment" and charge $10 to join the group... I don't ever see any of the money when people join and I only, just now, got an $8 group dividend, even though about 40 people joined since we added the pay to join...
I'm so confused... Can someone please help? many thanks!

By default everyone pays liability and receives dividends. You have to change that in the everyone role (and i think every default role and even new created roles have that checked) and then only group owners pay or receive.

Still not understand why we even get them

I am still wondering why we actually receive these? I received them today, and just don't understand what qualifies some groups to receive them? The group is mine, btw.

From: Kalderi Tomsen presumably if the group owns land the costs of the land are split evenly between those as well. No, members voluntarily have to donate enough tier to the group in order to maintain group-owned land. If at any point there isn't enough tier in the group to maintain the land, LL will contact the group owner that they need to get more tier donated to the group and if they don't the land will eventually be abandoned/reclaimed. How does group-owned land work? http://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=4041--- How are group dividends calculated? http://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=4596The only thing missing there is the fact that group dividends (normally) pay out sometime during the next day (usually SL - early - morning) and that money in a group can come from land sales, enrollment fees and money paid into the group through group-deeded items.
