Reselling items after getting buyers remorse

Hey all - Just wondering what the proper etiquette is for reselling items that are transferable, if you've bought something and later decide it's not for you.

In particular, I bought a lot of nice furniture before realizing how important low prim count is in my modest little 117 prim plot. I can live with it, but I certainly wouldn't mind selling it all at a discount so I could replace it all with low prim furniture.

Is it generally acceptable to resell items that are transferable? If so, what's the easiest/best way to go about it?

Thanks.

Have a yard sale. Announce it in events...

Well it's a bit of a can of worms really. I don't really see the problem with furniture but make sure the creator hasn't left a note asking for you not to resell it.

Anything that you bought and is able to be transfered is allowed to be sold/given away.

No asking permission, looking at note cards, or any of that rubbish.

If the creator didnt want something to be resold then they wouldn't of put transfer permission on it.

The resale permission doesn't necessarily mean that the creator allowed you to resell it, a lot of them do it to allow you to give to alts or simply as a gift ( specially full mod textures ).
But to be sure just send a simple IM to the creator and i guess he will be glad to tell you.

I think with furniture the OP would have only one copy and selling one copy in a yard sale would probably not be a problem with many creators. With full textures that's a whole different story.

i have seen quite a few people rent a space at a mall, and put up all their items for sale there, presumably before leaving SL for good... That's another option.

What they use it for and what it's meant for are two different things.

As far as I am concerned, I bought it, it's transfer, I will sell/give it away if I want to.

But lets not get into a fight about it, just a difference of opinion ;)

Edit:

p.s. Full mod is another story, usually bought for building/scripting/reselling anyway. Terms of sale are usually sell is fine, just not with full perms, that I do agree to btw ;)

slexchange has a used items are, you might want to place them there instead of spending money on a store or having a garage/yard sale

what the hell has happened to sl?
why are people so paranoid anymore?
if the product is transferrable, it is your right to sell it. so set it for sale and dont feel bad about it.
do a search for yard sale and see if theres one you can drop your stuff at.
slx has a second hand section
you can place a classified. anymore your $50 ads will rank higher than a $50,000 furniture shop ad.

If it is a single no-copy item, there should certainly be no problem in selling it. That is basic consumer rights.
However, after several cases of persons using exploits to duplicate and sell things (some documented, some alleged), I can understand if people are wary of buying things from a 3rd party. Yard sales may have gotten a bit of a bad reputation on that account.

It's a one time sell for an item the creator made. Wouldn't bother me at all. If that was enough to affect my business I'd look for something else to do.

I tend to agree ... if it's transferrable and no-copy ... sell that bad boy.
