I have been receiving more and more messages like the one I am about to show you. People I do not know keep PM'ing me and offering me Linden dollars for sale in these advertisement private messages. I was feeling brave today and clicked on the link in the message; it took me to what 'appears' to be a legitimate Linden dollar trading site. I am wondering if anyone has ever heard of this site before. It is called http://www.tradelinden.com/currency.aspx

I have edited out the name of the private message sender.

If it sounds to good to be true--it is! There are people who sell Lindens on eBay too--but many of these are scams and stolen Lindens. Yes. People have figured out how to steal Lindens. Problem is... Lindens are coded. So LL can absolutel--and does--reclaim these without any compensation to people who are duped into buying them. Do not buy 'discount' lindens. Pay LL in the customary fashion or risk losing your money.

Well, this is amusing ... I just completed a currency purchase on SLX for a better rate than this site offers.

Also, they make no mention of using LL's Risk API - I would not trade Lindens with any site that does not use it. If LL tracks the transactions, you will end up forfeiting more than the Lindens you bought, up to and including account cancellation.

Also, their web page is just plain distressing. It is a complete screenscrape of SL's, which is borderline deceptive, and they did not trouble to get the text put into grammatical English.

I would stay very clear of this one.

This site is EXTREMELY suspect, because it: 1) pretends to be run by Linden Lab, with similar Second Life photos and logos, and also 2) asks for your username and password, as if it's your SL password.

Looks like Yet Another IGE Portal to me.

No need to worry about using them anyway -- their "add to cart" buttons are just returning config errors.

I report all spam of that kind to LL anyway.....last week someone was soliciting Lindens on Ebay via IM. I wasn't on line so I sent a support ticket-within FIVE minutes, I got an answer saying thank you and they'll investigate and I should NEVER buy L$ on Ebay....(not that I would, but apparently a support ticket works for reporting those spammers too)

WHOIS shows the domain as registered in China, they have several other domains offering the same stuff.

As others have said... looks suspect, avoid.

The dude is inworld all the time. In fact, he's on my buddy's list but I have never done any business with him. He boasted buying and selling 2 Million L per week and that was 6 months ago -- but If I do remember correctly -- there was a post on the forums by someone who said they never got their Ls. Take it from a former trader -- don't buy third party.
