It's not a virus, its a notification of some sort. What do the popups say, exactly?

It's a script which targets you with dialog boxes, but it's not a "virus" in the sense that it doesn't spread to you.

Right, not a virus. But it doesn't "just" say "west side for life" either. It's an indication of him giving you a notecard or some other object, or perhaps a landmark. Or, money. Or, a group invite, or a friendship invite. Something!

Not a virus, but not necessarily an offer of anything from him. I have a friend who has some kind of "device" that will drive you crazy with pop-ups. He can have whatever message he wants there, and once he targets you there's no way to stop them they just keep coming and coming. I would think relogging would fix the problem tho. He was playing with his new toy and I happen to be online at the time. Maybe you need to clear your cache before logging in next time?

double check your not wearing something that might be scripted to give you annoying pop ups by typeing in 'worn' in the top of your invintory screen (this will show you all the items your wearing)

i'd also suggest finding new people to hang around with :D

Not true, one can easily script a dialog box with arbitrary text and arbitrary buttons (or nothing but "OK" and "ignore";) to appear on anyone's screen.

Maybe it wasn't something that guy did. Maybe it is just coincidence that the popups started when you met him and he did something.

For example, did you join any groups right before he did whatever he did? I have joined some groups that were just plain annoying by pestering me with pop up boxes every few minutes. And then when you log out and then log back in, you have to wade through all those pop up boxes and close each one. I hate it when that happens. I leave groups when they are like this.

Good luck

Very true.. even MystiTool lets you annoy your friends with popup boxes, though not a huge flood of them I don't believe.
