Have you tried playing around with debug mode in game? Maybe you hit a hotkey on accident, and it activated a debug setting.

From: Ross Stringer ...But other games work fine. ... Just making sure: you've rebooted, and SL still looks b0rked from a fresh boot? I'm just seeing this as something changed in the *underlying* graphics--not SL's own settings--that's somehow gotten incompatible with SL. So, if a reboot didn't help, I'd be suspicious of any graphics driver updates that may have gotten installed, or any control panel settings changes. To go much further, probably need to know machine specs, especially graphics card and driver info, from Help / About.

did you try going back to default settings or recommended settings to see??plus did you try any settings in the cards properties itself?? and also has anything at all changed in your system from the day it was working fine to the day you noticed..like installed anything new..most times it'sjust something simple but those end up being the hardest to find ..
like when i can't hear my sound..i will go crazy looking at everything then realize..crap i turned my speakers down when i got that phone call!! hehehe

If all trouble-shooting fails, you can always uninstall, delete all SL directories, and reinstall.

Hmm... keep in mind that SL is very resource intensive and could also be overheating things. Most MMOs are actually streamlined to run on lower end machines, but not SL. It's like they're waiting for the tech to catch up just so they can jump ahead again with it.
