Ok...this is a different kind of question for the group....I am looking for a RL/SL immigration lawyer. He/she must be well versed in the dealing of US immigration and a resident in SL. I have been looking all over and haven't had much luck. Can anyone suggest anybody? We are looking for a professional speaker for our group and might be able to pay a small amt, but we are a free group...so I mean a SMALL amt. lol.

Any help is appreciated!

might want to turn on you pm's option here

if someone is a lawyer they might want to contact you privately

good luck with that

Contact the Second Life Bar Association. Solomon Cortes is the president. Or Geri Kuhn. Someone also publishes a listing, maybe Cat Giesel, of all the legally related avatars & services in SL.

I am sure you will get alot of sincere and honest opinions here, but it sure seems to me that you should be contacting the real life bar association rather that an sl version of it. Best of luck with the immigration struggles.

TY all! Not sure how to turn on my PM's. lol...I am just lucky I figured out how to post awhile back. I will ck out the names you gave me. It's true that everyone and anyone on SL can pose as an attny...but I do know a TEENY bit about the immigration dealio...and they would have to be able to back up what they say. Anyway...the search continues.

I was told a while back that it is illegal to be a lawyer in sl - I mean a REAL lawyer practising here. I'm being serious here (not silly). Isn't it something to do with jurisdiction?

Might be...but we are not seeking his services as an attny, per se...we are looking for a speaker who can speak somewhat intelligently and with some actual knowledge of the immigration laws in the US. It's for our group...more than for us individually.

L---<<< Hit that link. The one that says "User CP." That's the "Control Panel" for changing options. One of which is to allow PM or Private Messages. Note that this is not the same as allowing others to email you, but that option is there as well if you want it.

The link to the User CP, the User Control Panel, is near the top left of the forum display. To the left of orange "Guidelines".

That will take you a page with a link for Editor Options.

On the Editor Options page, there are PM options:

Trout's a lawyer.

Darn it, for a minute there I had great hopes for this thread. I thought you wanted to talk about emigrating from RL to SL, or vice versa.

Wish I could.

Well, I actually DID immigrate to SL once...but then I tried to TP home and crashed, which sent me right back home in RL. I haven't been able to do it again. Dammit.
