sending im's out of world

Who knows how to send an IM to someone in world when i am not able to log in to SL? I know it can be done, but have no idea how.

Alternatively if you have your offline IMs coming into your e-mail you can reply to those within 5 days. The recipient will receive your real e-mail info though.

There are some scripted objects which you can send an email to, or contact through some other means, and they will in turn IM the person you wish to contact. There are limitations though. The recipient will receive an object IM from the object, not a normal IM from you. It will appear in their chat history and not an IM window, and to reply to you they'd have to open an IM session with you, and you'd need to have things enabled to forward offline IMs to email.

Other than that, depending on your situation, you could possibly use a text-based SL client which would let you log on in a text-only mode, so you could send and receive IMs directly.
