What setting have I inadvertently enabled?

I must have done *something* because since last night every time I single-click anything in inventory, be it a landmark, texture, folder etc, nothing works as it usually does.
A single click-hold-drag to move a landmark from one folder to another instantly teleports me to that location. Single-clicking a texture to move it opens the texture. Clicking a folder to open it immediately opens and then closes it.
It's making inventory-sorting and building a bit of a nightmare. Can anyone tell me what setting (if any) I've inadvertently enabled to cause this? I'm using the official viewer, version 1.22.11, if that's any help.

hey Skell is it just doing it in sl or everywhere ? If everywhere it sounds like the mouse settings have been changed, go to control panel and set mouse back to default, hopefully this will sort it Rhia

It's just doing it in SL, Rhiannon. No problems elsewhere at all. I've just checked all of my mouse settings and nothing's changed. I wasn't fiddling with debugs or anything else in SL yesterday, but I'm not sure if I accidentally hit some hotkey combination that's causing it.

Only time I've seen this is when the micro switch under the mouse button starts to fail or is very dirty.

Skell, my boyfriend had the same issue, every time he sent out notices for a club, he got tp'd to the door.. It was amusing.. for anyone but him.
Anyways, for him the issue was indeed the mouse, got a new one, problem fixed. I just asked him now, and he doesn't recall the mouse giving him problems anywhere but SL.

Before buying a mouse try maybe the old standby and do a mouse reset?
turn off pc, remove mouse, turn on pc and get as far in as possible till you get stuck or to the desktop, get to SL if able, shutdown, reinsert mouse.
Maybe there is a stuck setting but doing this might help to redetect/reset it? Course you could just try unplugging and plugging it back in but I always think PS2 when it comes to troubleshooting.

Thanks, all, for the replies. The mouse *is* pretty old (getting on for two years now) and I think it's had its day, so I'll buy a new one today. Pity, because one's hand kind of gets moulded to a frequently-used mouse, and for a generic that shipped with the PC this has been a really good one.

unplug mouse, shake vigorously, plug back in.
you might also try fiddling with the accidental double click detection in the mouse settings, and the double click speed... occasionally those will extend the life of a dying mouse.

I wonder if some "tuner cleaner" might work.
"Tuner cleaner" is a term from the days of tube equipment and tuners with strings wrapped around pulleys connected to weighted knobs.
Perhaps compressed air could blow the dirt out.

I had one issue where the mouse driver was corrupted. I got a new mouse anyways... but the old one worked just fine on my kid's computer.
